Ledger Blue Review : One awesome cold storage wallet

in bitcoin •  7 years ago

I wanted to write about my experience using the new Ledger Blue device. It's been out for a few months now but has been in and out of stock. I didn't want to risk ordering a tampered one from a third party website, so I waited.

It stores about a dozen different cryptos and pairs well with MyEtherWallet for storing compatible tokens. It can even be used as a password manager.

First impression out of the box, it had a nice feel to it. Well made, about the size of a smartphone but a bit smaller and lighter weight. I followed the instructions from the box and was up and running in a few minutes. This was the first cold storage device I've used since beginning to trade cryptos, so I wasn't sure exactly how it would work. The Ledger Blue was super simple and once it was set up, I was transferring funds immediately.

If you've considered getting a cold storage wallet, this would make a good choice. It would also be a good time because they're in stock, I had to wait about six weeks.

Ledger is currently holding a sale on their previous model that does not include a touch screen. I'm going to be ordering one to have a more portable option. The Ledger Nano S is only about the size of a USB stick and it may make a better choice for travel.
