Today I ran into the often complained about Bitcoin transaction delay issue. Up until today the longest I had ever waited for a transaction to go through was 45 minutes. I always tried to make sure I gave a proper transaction fee to ensure speedy delivery of the funds without also overpaying. I had heard tales of transactions getting stuck for hours, days and then eventually being returned but thought my careful methods of sending had made me immune.
After waiting about 8 hours today for a transaction to go through I started looking around for a solution. There are a few ways you can try and push a transaction through using a wallet like Electrum and increasing the transaction fee after the fact but the more interesting solution I found was ViaBTC's Transaction Accelerator.
Rather than increase your transaction fee to push it through you can use ViaBTC's tool to prioritize your transaction on their mining pool at no additional cost. Check it out here: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/
Just put in the txid and solve their captcha and ViaBTC will take pity on you and bump you to the front of the line. I tried it out and 10 minutes later I finally received a confirmation!
