What is Edge Secure?
Edge Secure is a mobile wallet designed with security, privacy and ease of use in mind. They were formerly known as Airbitz and rebranded to Edge Secure in 2017. The idea behind their new name is they think of everything including the edge cases when it comes to security.
How is it more secure?
It offers “One Touch Two Factor Authentication”.
How is it more private?
Edge Secure doesn’t ask for your name, email, or phone # or any other personal information during the setup process.
How is it easier to use?
Your private key is secured by your username and password, which anyone who used a computer is familiar with. There’s no need to write down a 12 or 24 word passphrase that you end up storing in Google Drive or some other location that can be easily compromised or lost (if you wrote it on paper).
Positives for Edge Secure
- Very easy to get started
- Has all the advance features you need IF you want to use them (custom mining fees, add any ERC-20 token, password recovery)
- Built-in exchange using Shapeshift
- One Touch 2FA is unique, doesn’t require Authy or Google Authenticator
- Edge Login is an easier way to use 2FA than having to type in 6 digit codes that change every 30 seconds
Negatives for Edge Secure
- Fonts are really small for the setup screen, might be an issue for some people
- Slow on older phones, drains battery power very quickly
- Password Recovery needs mail account setup
- Supports only 5 blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Dash)
Bottom Line: Edge Secure is an awesome mobile wallet that offer better security than any other mobile wallet while removing the concept of “private key” and “24 word passphrase” for those new to cryptocurrency. The fact that they don’t need any personal information from you is a bonus.
