Matthew & Fernando interview Lamont Black, Assistant Professor of Finance at DePaul University in Chicago.
Lamont is the first economist we've interviewed who has worked directly for the Federal Reserve. He worked at the Board of Governors in Washington DC for eight years, and now teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at DePaul, where he was the first professor to formally introduce Bitcoin and crypto into the curriculum. Lamont gives his take on a variety of monetary policy issues, such as central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), the importance of the dollar today and the (in)direct consequences of Fed policy, the euro, market cycles, quantitative easing, and more. We explore some technicalities of price inflation versus money growth, further nuances of Bitcoin's future in the markets, and finally how Lamont's students are taking interest in Bitcoin.
