Hi, everyone. I’m part of a small team that helped develop CoinAlarm. CoinAlarm is an app for checking prices and receiving real-time price alerts for all cryptocurrencies currently in the market, on every exchange they’re traded.
We wanted an app we would all want to use as cryptocurrency investors. So we made an app that provided what we wanted: a price alert so we wouldn’t have to be glued to our desktops/smartphones, a chatroom so we could share information, etc- all in a neat interface.
WHY THE (Belated) INTRODUCTION?
When we launched CoinAlarm in May 2017, we didn’t expect an overwhelming response. We’re all investing in cryptocurrencies, and enthusiasts of the cryptocurrency market. We were frustrated that it was so difficult to track real-time price of many, many altcoins. CoinAlarm was, in a way, a “personal project”.
Amazingly, we were overwhelmed by the response. Many users were saying CoinAlarm was extremely convenient, and they were posting positive reviews. There were even reviews (https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@dogeking/4-essential-tools-to-help-you-succeed-in-cryptocurrency) here on Steemit that recommended our app. And those reviews were what made us want to do better!
Because so many people were saying good things about our app, we felt inadequate for not presenting people with a proper guide on how to use CoinAlarm before them. we had to do something to provide CoinAlarm users a guide on how to use all the features to their advantage, and also wanted to present the app to people who might need it. So this is the CoinAlarm team’s review/advise on how to use CoinAlarm, and our ‘proper’ introduction of our app.
WHAT DOES COINALARM DO?
First thing you should know: WE DON’T ASK PRIVATE INFORMATION WHEN USING THE ALARMING FEATURE.
Now all I’ve said should be obvious, but since there were cases it wasn’t, I’m just stating the facts
Using Exchange: Add the API
Using Wallet: Add your wallet address
We only ask private information when if you wish and agree to use the above optional features. Also, we notify which information we collect beforehand.
Price/ Exchange Volume Push Alarm/ Alert
Widget/Notice to track real-time price easily
Price Buy/Sell thresholds
Arbitrage Opportunities between Exchanges
Spam-free Chatroom
Portfolio Management
Also, CoinAlarm is completely free with no ads to disturb you at all. All we ask is you leave us your feedback when you give our app a try, so we can continue to make our app more useful to Steemit users and anyone else interested in the cryptocurrency market!
HOW TO NAVIGATE
This is the first page of CoinAlarm. You can add coin info/alarm here, or go to the chat room, or go to settings where you can contact us or change your nickname or the language. 7 languages are available on CoinAlarm (English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian) at the present. (If there’s a language you want added, tell us and we’ll work on translating the app.)
If you choose to Add Coin/info alarm
1. Price Alarm
This is where you set an alert for a your target price. If you want, you can set a push alarm, notice on notification board/lockscreen, ringtone.
You choose the coin for your alarm, the standard currency to see the value of the coin (you can choose BTC as well as fiat currencies), then you choose an exchange that supports the coin & fiat you chose.
And now, you can see the current value & trade volume of your coin!
You can set your starting price to see how the price changes from it. Then, choose your target price as a number, or a percentage change (for example, you can set an alert for a 5% change from your starting price.)
Last of all, choose a price tracking cycle (how often the app will refresh the price), a shorter cycle may consume more battery.
If you wish to receive one, you can choose the name of the alarm and the ringtone. you can choose any ringtone from your phone or make it silent. There are also additional options, such as receiving a ringtone in silent mode, receiving alarms every 5% change, receiving a notice on the notification center/ lock screen.
You’ll be able to check the alarms you have like this!
2. Volume Alarm
This is where you set an alert for a certain target volume. You can navigate the page the same way as the price alarm.
3. Market Depth
In Market depth, you can see the Price Buy/Sell thresholds, the peaks and valleys in a price chart to decide when to buy/sell.
4. Portfolio Management
You can Manage your portfolio and current balance of your assets.
5. Price Difference between Exchanges
This is where you compare the price between exchanges, and if there is arbitrage opportunities.
6. Chat Room
you can share info on bitcoins and other coins in the chatroom.
You can also quote current price, market depth, price difference, or answer someone’s questions by addressing the person @nickname.
