Bitcoin and several other cryptocurrencies have added to the list of payment methods at Burger King fast food restaurants in Venezuela.
Support for cryptocurrencies is realized thanks to a partnership with the processing service Cryptobuyer.
In addition to Bitcoin, payment is available in Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Binance Coin (BNB) and Dash (DASH), as well as Tether (USDT).
Currently, you can pay with cryptocurrencies only in one branch of Burger King in Caracas, however, in 2020 the company plans to expand the option to all 40 establishments in the country.
Venezuela is still in an acute economic crisis, which the government of Nicolas Maduro is partially trying to solve by using the national cryptocurrency El Petro and restricting access to foreign currency.
In some cases, El Petro is even the only way to pay for a number of important services, such as passport fees. In addition, at the end of 2018, the Venezuelan government began transferring pension savings to El Petro.
It is noteworthy that not so long ago, representatives of Dash claimed that this altcoin is the most popular in Venezuela, but there was no actual confirmation of this statement. The level of adoption of cryptocurrencies by local merchants remains quite low.
In October last year, it was reported that Bitcoin restaurants in Germany began to accept bitcoin as payment.
