in what is called one of the biggest victories bitcoin in the country, announced the "Pick n Pay" shop in the city of Cap for starting to accept payment via digital currency starting today. The payment system is operated by Electrum, a software platform created to handle payments in different currencies. Jason Bissell, an executive at Pick N Pay, said:
"One of the key values of our Pick n Pay shop is to embrace change and encourage innovation and leadership. "While digital currencies and bitcoins are still relatively new concepts of payment, we are able to demonstrate our ability to accept such alternative payment methods."
Expanding the acceptance of the bitcoin in South Africa:
With the continued growth in payment methodologies, the total value of the bitcoin currency continues to grow as well. This is an important aspect of increasing public acceptance and increasing liquidity as well. Current liquidity and acceptance produce higher levels of awareness, and therefore higher levels of use. This process has been referred to as the "effective satoshi cycle", and despite the large negative news, it is clear that acceptance is becoming more and more of the currency of the bitcoin.
