At the intersection of magic (like in Harry Potter magic) and mathematical equations powering cryptography and blockchain, sits a very interesting project, called Mimble Wimble (which it's actually a tongue-tying curse from the famous book series). The project was just a white paper, until the end of 2016, but since then, a pseudonymous developer called, Ignotus Peverell (which is the invisibility cloak spell) started a project on Github, called Grin.
As far as I understand, MimbleWimble aims to revolutionize Bitcoin, by adding some very serious privacy layers on top of it. How this plays on with ZCash (or even Monero) approaches, is something yet to be seen, but the news in this article is that the project will eventually launch its own token.
But in a move which seems more and more popular due to the abundance of (not so clean) ICOs these days, the token will not be distributed in an ICO (not pre-mine and no "fancy business"). The name of the token is actually Grin and while in the beginning it will be launched as a standalone currency, later on there might be a pegging mechanism (similar to what SBD is trying to do here with the US dollar).
I have to admit that the naming of MimbleWimble and their affinity towards Harry Potter characters is absolutely delicious. If you want to know more about the project, here is the original White Paper, from July 2017.

A lot of crypto stuff might as well be magic as far as most people are concerned. Only the chosen few understand how it works. Proving that something is cryptographically secure requires at least 6th mage level skills.
We muggles just have to trust the wizards to get it right.

Shunning the ICO , might be a good movie these days.
It may inspire more confidence, at least they are less likely to be a "cut and runner"
