Facebook bans all ads for Bitcoin, ICOs, and other cryptocurrency

Facebook bans all advertising for cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin and initial coin deals, as part of a "deliberately broad" policy against fraudulent marketers. Product management director Rob Learn said in a blog post, saying Facebook will no longer accept ads promoting "financial products and services that are often associated with misleading or fraudulent advertising practices." and that Facebook picks up the rules again when it's better to spot bad ads and remove them.

"We want people to continue to discover and get to know new products and services through Facebook ads, without fear of fraud or fraud, but there are many companies that promote binary options, ICOs and cryptocurrencies that are not currently in good faith This policy is intentionally broad as we work to better recognize fraudulent and misleading advertising practices, and enforcement will increase on Facebook, Instagram and its off-platform audience network, "writes Leathern. "We will repeat this policy and our enforcement as our signals improve."

The Facebook guidelines include some examples of mandatory ads, including the simple "Use your bond funds to buy Bitcoin!" It encourages people to report all ads that slip through the cracks, although it does not specify how much Presence Cryptocurrency had on the ad network prior to this change.

Facebook allows ads for sensitive financial topics, with some restrictions. For example, it requires a "written permit" for any real money gambling or gambling service and prohibits "misleading or deceptive" student credit adverts. In addition, advertisers of these services must target only users older than 18 years. It is plausible that legitimate cryptocurrency services will eventually receive similar treatment - once Facebook, like the rest of the world, has figured out how to regulate it.
