ZeppelinOS is an open-source, distributed platform of tools and services on top of the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) to develop and manage smart contract applications securely.
So, it’s like a software developer’s kit for Ethereum, which is cool. That should make the EVM easier to use and bring even more users to ecosystem.
The man behind Zeppelin.OS is Manuel Araroz. He’s the current full-time CTO on Zeppelin.OS.
His past projects include Decentraland, a virtual reality world on the blockchain that recently held its token sale. He’s also the guy behind Proof of Existence, a service for having documents certified on the bitcoin blockchain.
Other projects include Bitcore, Streamium, and development on multiple games. Long story short this is a great guy to be leading the project.
I can’t help but agree with him philosophically as well.
Here’s the problem zeppelinOS aims to solve: “the rate of innovation in building decentralized applications is limited by the manual and duplicative efforts developers must make to ensure basic usability and security.”
In other words, instead of everyone building from scratch, they can start with zeppelinOS which will be well-tested and secure.
ZeppelinOS will offer a suite of tools and services including kernel standard libraries, smart contract development tools, smart contract interaction tools, and off-chain tools.
