Draw with satoshis on this digital whiteboard using Lightning Network

A Twitter user called "Lightning K0ala" created an ingenious whiteboard to draw online using Bitcoin's micro-payment protocol, Lightning Network, to pay for the pixels with which the works are made.

According to the presentation of the website, Satoshi's Place is an "online collaboration table" that uses LN for the payment of pixels, and works using Blockstream's c-lightning. The website is inspired by Reddit Place, as well as The Million Dollar Homepage.

The space designed by K0ala is a blackboard that has 1 million pixels, with a value of 1 satoshi each. Each pixel costs 1 satoshi and can be painted indefinitely. The canvas was released on June 9.

Satoshi's Place is an excellent way to experience the power of microtransactions through the Lightning Network. Watch for new features in the coming weeks, as well as API documentation.

However, it is not exclusively about comments and discussions, but about a whole canvas, full of designs alluding to the ecosystem, and with some penises. Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto, Elizabeth Stark, Roger Ver, Craig Wright, and even Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are some of the figures that appear in this canvas, which, however, has not stopped changing since its launch.

During the completion of this article, a user decided to paint the entire board and draw a facsimile of the announcement of closure of web pages by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States (FBI). Shortly after the blackboard was painted with the design that presented previously.

As the creator informs on his Twitter account, the community has already discovered the Satoshi's Place API and has developed ways to upload images or return the slate to the previous state. He says that it is possible that soon begin to offer services on this page, such as bots that fix the image on the site or drawing tools, as in traditional design applications.

But the real objective of this creation is not the drawings themselves, but the opportunity to use the network of micropayments in a tangible way, making the community interested in the operation of the network, and why not, try to open your own channel to leave its mark.

Recall that the Lightning Network has been designed as a possible solution to the problems of scalability of the network, opening the possibility that Bitcoin can be used for instant payments and to mobilize small amounts of money with low commissions. Thus, it is not only a space to create drawings and have fun, but an opportunity to test the protocol, even in the early stages of its development and implementation.

"If you opened a channel with satoshis.place to have fun with pixels, I have good news for you: now you are connected to a global network, instantaneous and with technology for microtransactions. A torrent of new applications and merchants are about to be available for your satoshis, "wrote the creator of the board through his account on the social network Twitter.

In the blackboard's Telegram group, users have discussed the approximate exchange capacity that circulates through it. According to some, like @ekerstein, there are currently 34 public channels, with a capacity of just over 0.29 BTC, equivalent to about 2,000 dollars, according to information from the LN records.

"If you add up all the channels between satoshis.place and other nodes, add 0.26 BTC. But we do not do the local / remote balance in those channels (...) LN is not like layer 1, the information is obscured and it is much more private. For example, we are not even counting private channels. There could be 2-3 times more channels that we are not seeing, "he said.

Some users say they have not been able to complete the payment of their pixels but, despite the difficulties, they do not deny the "fascination" that comes from seeing that the project is already working, giving free rein to the creativity of the community.

Currently, the Bitcoin micropayment network has a total of 2179 nodes, 5,119 public channels and a capacity of 134,876 dollars, which is equivalent to 19.83 bitcoins. If the calculation is true, Satoshi's Place would be mobilizing more than 1% of the funds in the network.

I just tried it, is is interesting how open this digital Canva is, prompting different users to use it and express their thoughts in there, however you have to pay for every pixel, a good example of how ideas expand.
