Interesting idea.
The portability will allow this group to go where the energy costs are lowest and also to the jurisdictions that are most friendly to its business.
I believe governments will increasingly see cryptocurrencies as a threat and will try to crack down on them.
I'm already reading reports that Chinese miners are moving to Canada.
(I don't think that governments will be successful in banning cryptocurrencies, but they will try nonetheless.

Gov't is run by big money or what I call shareholders (mainly too few control most - like a dozen people). These big money folks need computational trust so they can retain their wealth as they don't trust each other. They will override gov't crack downs as they occur and after some thinking watching and studying and then yes trust will win the day - computational trust, bitcoin.

Guadalajara is full of Casas Hogares which I think could use volunteers - when my dad worked in Human Rights, he visited the Juvenile Detention Center, you could try volunteering there too. I don't know what type of volunteer work you are looking for, but these are two good starting places!
