After a hunting to bitcoin miners in Ukraine, the central bank issues clarification about legal status of bitcoin.
A couple days ago the bitcoin miners was at the policial news at Ukraine. The Ukraine Police had found 200 computers had been set up in an unused swimming pool at the Paton Electric Welding Institute’s recreation center to generate bitcoins.
Now The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), issued a statement about the legacy of bitcoin and digital coins.
According the NBU there is only one allowed currency to be used on Ukraine, the hryvnia. No other currency is can be issued or used as a form of payment in the country.
The note also say that diferent countryes have devergencies about the digital currencias and say:
“In different countries, Bitcoin is classified in different ways – as virtual currency, money surrogate, intangible value, virtual goods and the like. For its part, the NBU has not officially supported any of the above definitions.” Full
By the way, According to law firm Yuskutum, exposed by the site cointelegraph that issue don't means that mining the cripto is ilegal in Ukraine.
“The arguments of the National Bank that the cryptocurrency is an unsecured ‘money surrogate’ are only a warning. It does not mean prohibition of their use.”
