This is the part most new people trading don't understand. You can't just jump in and out without thinking about the tax issues surrounding those trades. So if you have taxes you then need to know how they are taxed.
For example you need to be very sure if your taxing body looks at your buys and sells on a First In First Out basis or allows you decide which coins you sold. This means if I bought some BTC at $500, then more at $5000, then more at $10,000 and I sold if it's a First In First Out I would be selling the $500 cost basis coins first and paying massive amounts of taxes. If I can choose then the $10k coins would naturally be sold first and the tax issue isn't as bad.
Anyways way to many people running around making statements as fact that don't understand all the tax laws out there. Heck I'm well versed in the US, but know nothing about anywhere else in the world so just the limited bit I just gave may not even be close to how it's taxed in other countries...for all I know some countries don't care about your cost basis. My state doesn't care about losses when you win at gambling which is insane, so who know maybe there are countries that tax the entire transaction.
Then lets add in that some governments are talking about treating different crypto as different asset classes as they are used in different ways. This will really confuse things if it happens.

Everybody in crypto seems to have little patience. So what if you bought at $17k and it drops to $11k and then goes above $17k within a week. As has been demonstrated time and time again Bitcoin has a way of going two steps forward and one step back. Everyone wants instant gratification and instant profits it seems. I've learned most everything from Haejin and few other things elsewhere and my portfolio is nicely diversified. Being diversified allows me to take profits from coins that are green and put them into one that are red, it's a sell high buy low strategy that helps me to not get worried when the moon pulls almost all of them down. Haejin, I have 2 btc I want to get out of on GDAX. What would you think of converting BTC into ETH ot LTC instead of selling at current fiat rate? Do you think ETH or LTC would be a better investment? I don't want to sell my BTC into FIAT as it would be at a loss per coin. To be fair to those of us who have been following regularly...aren't good at trading and are just trying to make longer term "smart" moves...and rightly or wrongly set our positions based on the regular TA updates...
I was basing my BTS ownership on a recent TA that highly suggested a strong possibility of breaking through the .62 range and "could easily reach $6.20" ....granted...I realize your analysis isn't a guarantee....and time frame unclear....however...those kinds of exclamations coupled with the many other coins...."exploding"...."kabooom"..."raging"...."launch pad"....all suggests to me a market one should be in...not out...
So hopefully your prior suggestions that BTS is one to "hold for the love of future generations"...is still a valid dream....since for a lot of us...that's what this represents....

Transfer to GDAX which is free. Sell BTC to USD there. Hold USD money on exchange until you want to buy in again. Do a limit sell order so there is no commission. Don't sell at market price.

I have a question regarding long term projections. If short term subwave count projections are being OBLITERATED (like we saw with Verge recently) does that mean the long -term projections should be updated and (in Verge's case) increased as well?
To elaborate, original Long Term projection for Verge was around $5.05 before major correction. The short term wave projections were about half of what actually ended up happening. Should the $5.05 be increased by roughly double? Or am I overlooking and the price of $5.05 be realized sooner, with a prompt and sharp correction?

Hi haejin, just wondering about LTC, I just sold 1/3 of my LTC (and also 1/3 of my BTC) because of correction on the way, it's my decision based of what I learned here (and also because of your posts :-), but still my newbie analysis helped by yours), but now that I look better at LTC chart it looks more a triangle than an standard a,b,c ...
What do you think about LTC ? In case of triangle better buy back at the end of it (at the e of abcde) and take a little loss ? Anyway if this was a bad sell, the buy back should be good anyway, so it will not hurt too much and I'll learn the lesson (when in doubt it's a triangle :-) ).

I just wanted to clarify "HODL" for you - if you're not heavily into crypto it's an inside joke-turned-phrase that's very prevalent (but confusing for outsiders).
I personally don't think Steemit is ready for original content outside of crypto stuff. Take some time to look at how the rewards are distributed - I have some experience in the literary/publishing world, and this site does NOT match up well yet (especially how there is no disclaimer as to who owns content, UI is not great, and also the fact that many literary magazines only take work that is NOT published anywhere else, including blogs).

The problem with suspicious people like you is that because I replied on a 'anti haejin blog' that I was not a bot and tried to explain why I was here, my reputation was down to 14 in a few hours.

Fair enough. But I'm still quite concerned about bots. There are defintitely bots on Steemit. Anyone can make a bot. I looked it up it's actually not that hard. The bad english I'm refering to ins't the kind that comes from foreigners, but from bots. Bots are so strict with grammatical rules they're easy to spot for this. And their answers, although may be pertaining to the subject, can still seem nonsensical. I see quite a few bot posts on steemit. I'm concerned that if bots are being used, whether by haejin or not, that the true value of steem is being artificially created, and this is a corrupt market. Could you imagine what would happen if it were discovered that bots were intentionally creating artificial bubbles trading on wall street? I think we would see a crash. Also, to me, all this praise @haejin thing, this all seems cultish and a bit weird.
One last point. How do I know I'm not just talking to haejin right now? I'm a computer programmer so I know it's not difficult to set up thousands of accounts and run them all with just a little bit of python. bots would definitely make that 1000% easier. Just saying.
