I signed up and listened to the George Gilder webcast a couple of weeks ago. I had never heard of Gilder until I got something emailed to me about his prior predictions. The email also detailed the companies that had used Gilder as a consultant so I was definitely curious.

I ultimately decided not to purchase anything from the webcast but I understood well the gist of what he was saying and although 'm not all that great at using #steemit and didn't find where anyone had really summarized his webcast (apologies if this already out there in abundance), I decided to add a bit of information myself.
Nuts and bolts of the cast - The internet wasn't built for commerce. It was built for reference(think wiki) and communication(email). A new internet is ALREADY being constructed for commerce and it will be crypto driven. The security issues with commerce on the web using credit card #s and relying on other companies to secure information ( for example, the following companies have my card info: Apple, Verizon, Netflix, Amazon, CableOne, Pizza Hut, etc. ). The new commerce internet will transact in crypto and we'll never have to risk a hack exposing anything more than our address and user/pass...card information wont be necessary.
Steem was one of the companies that Gilder mentioned as a player in the new internet. As I've gotten to browse around the site, I have to say the merit based reporting and compensation related thereto fits in perfectly with where Gilder suggested the future is headed.
While I was already a crypto ower/trader before the Gilder cast, the information only strengthened my belief that the next generation will use crypto the way our generation uses the web today.
