Apparently there has been a class action lawsuit against CoinBase for it's blatant violation of consumer trust by rampant insider trading.
Let's recap.
At the time of the Bitcoin Trash fork, Coinbase told all of its customers that Coinbase would support the trash fork but it will not be available until sometime after Jan 1st 2018. However contrary to this announcement Coinbase performed a very dishonest surprise release of Bitcoin Cash weeks before its previously stated release date. Here the fun begins.
Hours before the bitcoin cash release on Coinbase, Bitcoin Cash began to pump for no apparent reason. A large portion of Bitcoins market cap flowed into Bitcoin Cash and caused much panic. The fear of a flipping had begun. Then midway into the Bitcoin Cash pump, the cryptocurrency suddenly appeared on Coinbase. Meanwhile coinbase suffered intermittent service outages due to high network traffic and customer sign-ups. Eventually the service outage forced Coinbase to temporarily suspend Bitcoin Cash.
After the drama of this surprise shenanigans many crypto enthusiasts, including myself, began a campaign to boycott and supplant Coinbase. A massive influx of customers swarmed all other exchanges as our boycott of Coinbase forced us to seek alternative to Coinbase. Personally, I signed up on every exchange I could find and began to use my old Kraken account again. I even signed up with Gemini despite their ludicrous KYC verification requirements.
Since then, more alternatives to Coinbase have been announced and developed. While decentralized exchanges would be ideal, we are still currently stuck with KYC exchanges. In the meantime I am happy to see Robinhood develop a feeless exchange app as I have already been use their stock trading app since it was released.
Today I learned about the current class action lawsuit against Coinbase. I'm reminded of a reply from Kim.com after I exposed the liabilities of crashing the bitcoin network with a scam coin like Bitcoin Cash. Basically I said something about the liabilities of calling "fire!" in a theater being equivalent to the liabilities of crashing a financial network with spam, advertising, marketing, or interviewing Roger Ver....
Here is the article I first found covering the class action lawsuit against coinbase.
