Bitcoin is Really Starting to Show its Age.

Bitcoin Was Just the Beginning of the Age of Decentralization.

I don't think Bitcoin is going anywhere anytime soon but it is sure showing its weaknesses. I keep hearing that Lghtning Network will save it and that RSK will deliver on their promise of a smart contract platform built on Bitcoin. My patience is growing thin. For now I will HODL Bitcoin but most of my portfolio will be in projects that I believe can move the revolution forward.

Frankly I think Ethereum is going to age quickly as well. EOS and Cardano are peering around the corner and they will deliver their 3rd generation crypto smart contract platforms soon. I believe this is a good thing for crypto. Imagine if we had to still use record players to listen to music. Nostalgia is nice but upgrades are better!

haha fun picure! More and more alts get attention that is true :) lets see where we are in 2 years from now :)

@hilarski - Sir at the begging of the year you talked about it, EOS & ADA they are based on same concept like ETH do Sir... Therefore, with the power of 3rd Generation they will do better in this year Sir... Useful information for all of us Sir... Your recommendations are valuable to build our crypto careers...

+W+

I got some 80's Hair Band Rock N' Roll Albums on Vinyl you still might like @hilarski...

Nice

Yes! As I've said for the 1000th time, 2018 is the year of the alts. I have pretty much 100% of my port folio invested in non top 5 coins. I have some ethereum and that's about it.

However, after taking a 40% loss on COSS Coins (which were 90% of my portfolio), I'd just like to remind people to always hold the majority in (somewhat) bluechip coins haha... less chance to moon but it'll save you a few sleepless nights LOL

A topical post! I cringe when someone asks me to help them get some BTC to HODL. I cringe when I have to convert it or transfer it!

I love coins like Steem and SBD that have no transaction fee and are virtually instant.

I was holding back on BTC lately until @vegansilverstack commented on a post about how the Lightning Network is actively being developed.

Funny enough that prompted me to research it and he was right. I did a post today on it:
https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@sequentialvibe/thoughts-on-bitcoin-and-the-lightning-network

I think it is worth keeping 10 to 50 percent of one's portfolio in BTC in 2018. I didn't think that 24 hours ago!

Great discussion.

You are very right Bitcoin is going down and Showing it's weakness and other Crypto Currencies like ethereum litecoin dash Neo are increasing their Value. I hope for the best regarding Bitcoin and prepare for the worst. I think wait & see is the best strategy at the moment. Patience is key to success in Crypto. What is your opinion sir? What is your advice for Small Investors like me :)!
Thanks for Such a informative post @hilarski.

Congratulations @hilarski

Exceptional point, BitCoin is the alpha of all & it remains as ALPHA - HODL...!!!

I am into ADA and EOS. HODL them.

People shouldn't count out the Gen 1 cryptos just yet as I think many of them will surprise people in the coming year. Will BTC/LTC/ETH... be replaced with better/newer versions of the technology? Possibly, but I don't think its as likely as many people may expect. 2018 is going to be an interesting and very telling year for the most part, so it should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Bitcoin would be decentralized now and it seems some little dip and again immediately rise up. But all peoples trust about BTC yet. BTC currently in 14,000 USD level. We'll all hope it will be rise over $20,000. But not done coz South Korean 02 exchange sites was banned I think. If I'm wrong plz correct me @hilarski.
Other ways ETH, EOS, LTC and some of new cryptos seems some little gain and lot peoples keep HODL now. Price will be gaining very soon.
Thanks for update us.

I think one of the most overlooked means of price support for BTC is that most altcoins have only one trading pair and that is with Bitcoin. It would be nice to see LTC or even ETH paired with every coin that BTC has a pair with.

Why should I have to buy BTC to get at some of other coins? Is the exchange business model to rack dual fees for every purchase?

Your ideas are right. When Bitcoin grows old, other coins will reign. But one thing to remember is that, (OLD IS GOLD)

I prefer silver.

My choice is different. I prefer mix all.

I know I dont code for bitcoin, or give speeches about bitcoin, or ever support bitcoin in any way whatsoever but here's a list of demands and a time limit.

hope btc will be always up and i still believe on bitcoin and its value for transactions make it mroe valuable therefor not possible to defeat btc in any way hilarski sir

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

hmmm nice and i think the btc is the father coin as everyoe know and also i think in next some years the father of crraypto will be old and weak and many new become young like eth and steem @hilarski
the btc will die from its fee and transactions time and the comptition in market with the more others attractive cryptos

How long have you been investigating this? 2 months?

He is an old man but a very valuable old man :)

Yeah the new generation coins are definitely going to be the ones taking over eventually. The whole debate among crypto-enthusiasts about the fate of BTC is a tough one to determine.

Great illustrations!
Yes, Bitcoin became too old and slow for our modern world, but for now it is still respected. I do not think that he will burst like a bubble, most likely he will be given a leisurely retirement.

I have read the news that 80% of the total bitcoins are mined til now.

This is an argument proven everyday.
BTC will always be around for its purpose but the the better coin will prevail.
Exactly I think BTC replacement is not even out.
2018 is a turning point in crypto.
Thanks for this info.
Keep on steemit.

I think it will still dominate and be the granddaddy of all the other coins even though it may not be out as long as then . Do you think some will take over it’s position

it is very well said that
Bitcoin Was Just the Beginning of the Age of Decentralization.
I don't think Bitcoin is going anywhere anytime soon but it is sure showing its weaknesses. Thank you for copy pasting all my written text.

he was saying that u said very well that thing sir

And he even got upvoted for it twice! Makes me laugh.... sometimes

Bitcoin is old but the technology still has a long way to go in development. The new kids on the block sound cool but they haven't been tested yet. These projects have the potential to disappear quickly when the bugs are identified. This is a long-term game.

@hilarski,
BTC = 1st generation
ETH = 2nd generation
BTS/STEEM/EOS = 3rd generation

This is what I learn about blockchain maturity!

Cheers~

Steem is 2nd generation.

@hilarski,
STEEM based on Graphene's blockchain technology. It's 3rd Gen if I am not mistake! BTS, EOS based on the same technology! This is what I heard and believed! Am I wrong friend?

Cheers~

With the biggest developer community I think that bitcoin will be around for a while to come. I think they will need to fork it multiple times to keep up with the innovation though. I does seem that it is being left behind in the last few months hopefully we see some innovation in bitcoin soon

That is true, therefore it might not take to long for some other fresh coin to climb the throne. Maybe even some coin nobody has on his radar yet

This is true also ..but i still believe in bitcoin ...in my country india ..bitcoin is only option for trading .....there is no alt coin available...there many such countries like this .....you are right randy bitcoin in not going to die too quickly.

Age is wisdom ;) Bitcoin already made a stance last year saying they dont care about improving the amount of transactions till lighting network launches. It is clear now the vision for bitcoin is to remain stable and strong without any loopholes - hacking attempts while remaining a store of value. Heck everything is STILL to this day traded in Bitcoin or ETH and not many others can say that. BTC still has a strong future which I am happy on buying the dips. It took years to get ATMs bank cards etc to adopt BTC its going to be years before the start accepting anything else for world adoption.

Agree,
One is for sure, Bitcoin is going to stay here, the best decentralized coin.
I think it’s great opportunity to be accumulating bitcoin.
Many people make a mistake by selling when it gets boring and jumping on board when it’s already too late.

Bitcoin is mother of crypto world. All the coins can vanished but btc will survive. Now a days those forces who don't want BTC to grow fast are fully focused against BTC. Everyone can smell. But this could be a temporary issue. At the end BTC will move up soon. Thanks @hilarski for your update.

@hilarski..in my view .the bitcoin is the father a father of all crypto..because of the only the bitcoin price raises causes the every one knows about the crypto..present there is a new coins come day bay day...every one confuse to choose which one is better to buy..and which coin will reaches the bitcoin price....thank you for sharing nice usefull information with us.m.

For me all those upgrades seem like:

Trying to upgrade a Ford Model T with a 650 HP engine. It's just not built for it. EOS will smash ETH in my opinion, CARDANO has a long way to go, but still better than ETH.

Just my 2 cents

I feel the same.

I would agree partially, there are indeed pain points with BTC and news aboout China banning BTC mining, I hope the price will be back to 14k.

All new well-stuffed old. Excellent photos for the article. Thanks for sharing.

Bitcoin officially influenced a position to a year ago saying they dont mind in regards to enhancing the measure of exchanges till lighting system dispatches. It is clear now the vision for bitcoin is to stay steady and solid with no escape clauses - hacking endeavors while remaining a store of significant worth. Hell everything is STILL right up 'til today exchanged Bitcoin or ETH and very few others can state that. BTC still has a solid future which I am glad on purchasing the plunges. It took a long time to get ATMs bank cards and so forth to receive BTC it will be a long time before the begin tolerating whatever else for world appropriation.

Bitcoin could still go up anytime this year, but the altcoins will dominate him for sure. There are so much better projects then bitcoin right now.

I think Bitcoin and Ethereum have their place, but the new tech is definitely going to surpass them in terms of usability! I am not sold on LN or Rootstock. I remember Nick Szabo talking about RSK a while ago and hope that it becomes useful on the Bitcoin sidechain.

The RSK team is excited to deliver their project but I am over here twiddling my thumbs.

I am beginning to think that BTC will not be able to keep its growth due to the large amount of competitors. Growing ETH, NEO, LTC pairs will continue so what's the purpose on holding BTC forever?

DAAAAAMN accurate. But the father, the mentor will not die yet.

I'm actaully kinda bullish on BTC at 33% dominance. I'm not a fan of BTC in crypto but it'll be a long time till it's not a big player

Bullish and usable are two different things. I am bullish as well.

Very True!

Never underestimate the power of Bitcoin

Agreed. It's here to stay!

EOS and Cardano are peering around the corner and they will deliver their 3rd generation crypto smart contract platforms soon.
Valuable information. Thank you~

Thank you so much my dear sir @hilarski for sharing with us . have a nice day.

Hello @hilarski,

Extraordinary good topic to discuss, I feel the same. But BTC got it's demand very well.

~@mywhale

I totally agreed @hilarski.
New currencies come to the track and started to go gaining way. Hodl better option now.

crypto-currency-e1485565563636.jpg

Nice observations Randy @hilarski BTC is definitely the 1st generation thats for sure. What do you think of DASH and its' DAO approach where their network is self sustaining? It puzzles me that others have not picked up on this approach in a bigger way ... or am I missing something?

will stay with them. excellent post @hilarski

EOS & ADA are the future

~Followed & Upvoted

I believe old things are always replaced by new ones. BTC is old but who will be the next on leading end Sir @hilarski?

The thing to remember is that Bitcoin is more than the current artificial block size in ticker BTC and all the speculation on a future Lightning layer being built on top - for ordinary people to use it instead of the main chain itself - that's all very different from what Satoshi set out to do.

The original Bitcoin, as such, has not had much real world testing past the point that it was decided by developers to keep the blocksize small for extended time, even as fees began to rise and the network - that is the main chain itself - became congested.

All of this coupled with the social media manipulation is why BCH (Bitcoin Cash) finally formed and is now making great progress.

Both BCH and BTC might still not make it much further of course. We don't know that. Or they'll wake up and both do terrific. But it doesn't harm that we see increased competition. That's precisely what we need in this space right now.

well. when you talk about digital currency there is always a chance of mistake in judging. see now btc moved 8000usd to 22000usd in one month

I am agreed with you .thanks for your post.i also like you @hilarski

I'd you asked @dan, cardano is bound to fail (just check his recent blog posts about it)...

EOS is also a bit of a "pie in the sky" so far. I haven't seen any serious development or adoption yet from the outside community. It's a great platform in theory, just like Steem ... But adoption is key for future value.

Nah, they are competitors let them duke it out. There is plenty of room for competition in this market.

totally agree. The only thing I really see with Bitcoin staying on top for the longterm is that it is used more as a currency and already has ATMs worldwide, where as smaller alt coins dont have that first mover edge. There will definitely be disruption though as bitcoin is too expensive and too slow right now.

wawoow a post with great information u got a new follwer!

Ethereum is unstoppable, just need some more investments in it :P
BTC is getting old Now :D :D

I believe Lightning Network is required for Bitcoin to regain any kind of growth. I am not confident it will give it the kind of scale to handle every day transactions.

thanks for sharing this news. helpful for me.

Exactly! It's the first crypto but it's also the oldest in terms of technology. There are so many cryptos that have amazing technologies (for example, Steem).

thats

well informing post

#########################cryptocurrency is going well i like to hold it######################

im scared a bit by knowing that 80% of bitcoin is already mined ,what if 100% mined ??do we have to create panic ??

the picture tells the truth, the master shows the way to growth and build up, once they over come his master, here master is btc!

Bitcoin the "Grandfather of Decentralization" that trusted in the world into a whole new era of trustlessness and freedom from the State. Satoshi Nakamoto is going down a legend in the history books.

what kind expression do i give! basically i have ETH and XMR more than BTC, but downing BTC is not the right choice that i feel.

i just see that alts are dead right now :(

Agree,
One is for sure, Bitcoin is going to stay here, the best decentralized coin.
I think it’s great opportunity to be accumulating bitcoin.
Many people make a mistake by selling when it gets boring and jumping on board when it’s already too late.

I think bitcoin is like an old refrigerator it still works. Does it's job. But there is a lot more efficient refrigerators out there. Time to upgrade!!!!!

Only if the main group of BTC whales won't decide to invest in a new ruling coin, Bitcoin should be fine for a while.
Even though I have the same thoughts as you that it looks weaker than before.
I'm trying to understand what coin will dominate in the future.

Yep, I guess everybody (well, with some very few exceptions) agrees that Bitcoin age is passing. Mining is very expensive, a lot of energy and resources (like the silicon used to design ASIC chips) are wasted without producing value. I guess it will be just better to accept that Bitcoin should be replaced, as well as any other PoW.

With this said, the image is very sad,I feel bad for it...

Totally agree Randy, I will HODL on BTC no matter what but EOS and Steem are my biggest shares in the crypto portfolio.

Thanks for sharing this nice photo and your post is vary first . first time bitcoin side coming up nice photo.many many thank @hilarski

I still hold a little bit of Bitcoin because it's the entry point to crypto for most users and it's still the main measure of value on most exchanges. But I don't use Bitcoin for any transactions anymore because of how slow and expensive it's become.

There are way better crypto projects out there, but I think it will be a long time before any of them dethrone the king.

Bitcoin is still very strong and recognised by everyone.
And soon will be 500,000$, So don't worry.

Great photo. I think exactly this will happen sooner or later. A new king will be born.😊 Don't invest in one coin only.

i love the post its amazing .. this is sos good as this is my first time in yur ... post but i must said you have got a follower loved it

Hmmmm nice post bro! İ like it

I think as the competition increases so will the innovation. This should help with adoption and will serve as a good thing for the crypto investment category. Just do your research and select crypto that resolved real world problems.

i want to invest in ethereum! what do you think?

I am not investing in Ethereum.

i have money to invest in cryptos, which coins do u think i should buy

thanks for your post. it also helpfull for me

I'm buying up ADA little by little...probably should get in on EOS, too - I didn't get in on it soon enough.

Bitcoin hodls a special place in my heart, but I am a believer in sharing the love with other technologies. I am hoping EOS will really take off and of course Steem as well.

Yeah it's true, new cryptocurrencies are rising really fast, they are way faster and more usefull, however the bitcoin still remains them most popular cryptocurrencie, the one that started new age :)

Thanks for the update

LN is coming fast through. It actually in mainnet albeit beta but it good news :)

thats the summary

The application also uses Bootstrap for the user interface to give a mesmerizing look with a responsive touch. It is an application that allows us to securely type your thoughts, schedule, ideas or any other secret stuff. It allows you to create your own personal account and work on it anytime. It also secure your password by encrypting it with the latest md5. I've only recently joined Steemit, but am very excited about the future of the site. There are enough active users to make things interesting, but there is clearly a lot of room for growth from this point.

WTF is this?!

Lighting network will be great for bitcoin but won't be the end of the improvements that it needs...
We need much more!!!

I already stock some litecoin.
I think one day it rate very high.

it is showing age but that's just a proof of it's strength for storing value.

Bitcoin is not going anywhere for sure, it's the motherland we build upon. But yeah, I hear ya! Go EOS go ADA!

@hilarski Wow Jerry that was a lot of work, thank you!
I will check them out when I get home this evening and can sit down and read. This is my quest to follow the whales.. No matter how hopeless

Loved the picture of ninja turtles! But quite frankly there should've been steem in there. Or maybe it's still too young idk

The News or Report that just a few individual are manipulating Bitcoin Prices, plus its Team concentrated in making money and not solving the real problem of how expensive became to use it, plus the News that 80% is already mined, and the Forecast of Bitcoin FUTURES, I think have created a feeling that the Old Man is over.

On the Contrary, Regarding Steemit I am still bullish about its technology and Team. Too few Witness. I feel there should be more, so that our destiny is not only in the hands of 20, that I don´t think truly represent all Steemit Communities. Power & Politics, as well as Pool Reward Rapping is rampant around here.

Up vote for picture and rekindling childhood cartoon memories. I agree it will lose its importance. But there is always a place for Master Splinter, even if he doesn't do most of the fighting anymore.

I like that manga! Looking forward for Eos and Neo to catch up to Ethereum. Won't be too many months ahead. 2018 will be a ground shattering year for Anarcho-capitalist.
