Be Very Careful Buying a Coin He Tweets on the "Coin of the Day".
I remember when someone like John McAfee was considered a Pump n Dumper when they did this. Anyone who has his influence. Tweets a a coin he supposedly likes and the price jumps 200% is suspicious. I hope you enjoy handing over your hard earned Bitcoin.
We Used to Call People Pump and Dumpers for Doing Much Less.
His Tweet About Verge, ZCash and Monero Seems Quite Normal.
I saw this tweet and figured he was telling all the newbies what his genuine favorite sector of Crypto was. I do this all the time. I see other influencers like @DollarVigilante doing this and people really appreciate the information.
If You look at the market reaction of Verge since the 13th of December when the Tweet went out it does not have the response as the later daily pics.
The "Coin of the Day" Should be Retired.
This is how the crypto world gets a bad reputation. What I foresee happening is PnD groups following McAfee and pumping the hell out of his, "Coin of the Day". People will get REKKT and then will complain that the whole industry is a fraud. I have no evidence that John is doing it himself but he did say he had a very large Safex position.
These are Open Markets and We Can Do What We Please.
This is how I feel about life and of course crypto but I also believe we should be prudent. I could be carefree and join groups pumping coins but in the end it just stinks of greed and people will lose respect for me. Profits are great but I am so stinking tired of all of the manipulation in the markets.
John, Please Retire, "The Coin of the Day".
I know it sounded like a good idea. It is still early enough where no damage has been done to the community. Thank you for all you have done for the community.
Wait so he recommends 365 shit coins a year?! That much get challenging to pick shitty plays everyday lol.

Definitely "coin of the day" should retire... It is foolish to recommend new coin everyday.

It is so dangerous when a single person have such an influance on market. Now everybody interested in investing after his/her research on what crypto can be the next one to raise has to take into account what McAfee might be thinking about that crypto. The possibilities of manipulation are just countless. And all we can do is pray and hope that McAfee's intentions are actually right.

I don't need to buy one of his recommendations. No one does. If people want to speculate on coins that they get 140 characters of info on with real money, great. I'm happy to take their money. Hopefully they will size their positions properly and won't lose their shirts. Either way, they will have a valuable learning opportunity as neophyte traders and the rising tide of crypto should take care of them in the long run.

This is a crazy high stakes table we're all playing at, and by high stakes I mean our financial futures and liberty are at stake.
Like may people have said, crypto has the potential to make our future more free or the opposite. It just depends on which systems succeed. I'm of course hoping the liberty minded ones do. He can talk about any coin he wants, and I'll still do my own research. My hope is that others will do the same. "Listen to all. Follow none."
I bought ZenCash on your recommendation as an example. They have a very good mission and their heart is in the right place. The main reason I bought it was for ethical reasons. I believe in their mission and support them. It's nice that the coin is moving upwards, but I have a more important objective in mind than profit.
We are in a fight for our future.
Are we going to break way from the bankster's system of control, or are we going to be ensnared in a new and improved version of the one they have now? This is a battle with serious consequences. Sure, profit from them, but remember the main objective: liberty. I hope people are keeping that in mind as they consider which coins to support or not. It matters!
I know you, Randy, understand that all already though.
Merry Christmas friend, and keep driving forward! 8-)

But there are other people with influence who are doing the same stuff and as you said especially newbies (like me as well) always appreciate some advice or suggestions. But we all musn't forget, being in whole crypto market is on our own risk. No reason to blame anyone after getting burned.

I've definitely come to the same conclusion even if he isn't intending to actually do so.
The main issue is that he has a massive social following, so people will jump in on any specific project he mentions. Of course, people are then left with losses when the inevitable dump arrives.
I used McAfee's tweet about Electroneum as an example in my recent post. It was clear that there was going to be a major initial pump when he used described it as "the Holy Grail of cryptocurrency". Of course, it came crashing back down very quickly, and I'm sure a lot of people lost large amounts of money.
What is clear is that people with large social media presences need to be careful about outright name specific projects. People will pump money into anything without doing any prior research.

You bring up a very valid point @hilarski.
Sadly, the cryptocurrency world does get egg on its face with stuff like this.
Charlie Lee tweeted that he unloaded all his LTC a couple days ago. He is one of the leading faces in the crypto world and unloads just before a crash. I am sure that it is purely coincidental since he doesnt have the ability to pull $200B out of the market. Yet it does give people fodder to chew on.
McAfee is a wild card anyway. If he is going to give his two cents, which does carry weight, it should be on larger coins since he does have the ability to move things. With smaller tokens, it doesnt take much to get them flying since they have little volume.
That is how people get hurt in the pump and dumps. I have no problem with his bitcoin calls (and bets with it) since he wont move the market simply on his word.

Coin of the day does sound scammy. Maybe an in-depth review of one each month or something, but a tweet about an altcoin each day is a bad idea

I appreciate the teachings very much, but at the time of investing I am responsible for my decision. Maybe I am very distrustful and research a lot, I have the habit of reading and I can study a lot. Have criteria to analyze trends and recognize when a lot of noise is made to benefit a product or service.

I don't think he should actually recommend a coin unless he truly believes in it. By making a coin of the day recommendation, he actually risks giving crypto a really bad name if people invest in his recommendations and eventually end up losing money.
