See the interesting article by Silver Doctors regarding the increasing number of internet shutdowns (https://www.silverdoctors.com/gold/gold-news/there-is-serious-risk-to-digital-gold-as-internet-shutdowns-have-increased-in-2017/).

According to Silver Doctors, the number of internet shutdowns keeps increasing worldwide. If you think this trend is limited to some authoritarian regimes, you are wrong!

The shutdowns occured 116 times in 30 countries during the period of the last 2 years.

As you may remeber, there were not only cryptocurrency related pages being effected - the same happened to Youtube and social media sites in the past.

Silver Doctors have a point by stating: "This isn’t just a disaster for those using bitcoin, this is a disaster for anyone who relies on an internet connection be it for communication or accessing their finances".

Conclusion

The internet is great and usefull, but you should have a contingency plan for the case of an internet shutdown.
