Protocols, Applications and Silly coins?

Dear Steemians,

In this short video, Cedric Dahl talks about his perspective on 'protocols', 'applications' and 'silly coins'.
He covers the basic reasoning on how to look at the crypto landscape - concise and to the point.

I am a just crypto newbie...
Although I understand Cedric's point of view, I was thinking that there might be some other exceptions....

Do you agree with Cedric's point of view?
Also, what are your thoughts about Lite Coin, Ripple, EOS and IOTA ?

    A good protocol without good apps it useless. But mostly i agree with Cedric Dahl. Most of my investment is in protocol coins and about 20% in these application coins.
