Many of the commentators that are prophesying the demise of BTC do not understand the paradigm shift that is going on in finance. If the argument is that BTC and cryptos are only used for "dark net" activities such as tax fraud, drug dealing and criminality then the esteemed professor is ignoring the fact the fiat currencies are also used to a much greater degree to fund these activities. Using this logic does that mean all fiat currencies are also worthless? I think peer to peer financial transactions will only increase and cryptos not fiat will be the currency of these transactions. Consequently I think that long term the crypto market cap will go up not down.

but the way some countries are dealing with crypto, there are alot of hurdles ahead .

With this information now being confirmed by Coinbase, the XRP price is taking a big hit. It is worth noting this is not just due to this particular bit of news, though. All other cryptocurrency markets are in the red as well, with the Bitcoin price dropping by nearly 5% for no good reason. This also impacts the XRP price in a negative manner, as it compounds the downtrend even further.

Hey thanks for the update bro. I believe in cryptocurrency this is just the start of a new era and people as always are worried about their investment. I've seen most people comparing it with pyramid scam scheme but rather it's what people do they don't wanna put any efforts in learning anything, they would just hear someone say A and add A+B and then tell others about it. That's what people do.

@ivanli thanks for all the daily updates, it's all very informative and entertaining. On the tax note:

The concept of being taxed on Crypto that was received as a salary, even it is is HOLD'ded, can be mind boggling for many. Before crypto, this was an issue that only applied to large company executives with stock awards, but now the same rules apply to crypto workers (even Steemians).

One other mind boggling concept is, if someone in the U.S. uses cryptocurrency to pay a bill to the tax authorities, that actually creates a second transaction: a deemed sale of the crypto for fiat to pay the authorities, thus creating another taxable transaction (this is potentially circular). Let met know if you would like a link to an example I did.
