So back in 2013, I jumped on a little bit of bitcoin to what I remember was $50 just to see what all the hype was. Soon after my first investment, Bitcoin pulled back enough that another $25 brought me up to 0.1 Bitcoin in for my full $75 investment.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I see the news reporting that Bitcoin is now over $5000. I think to myself, there's no way it will get higher than this. So I went on coinbase and told them to cash me out. Woohoo! I'm up $425 before this silly thing drops.
Now I see that it could and did go up quite a bit more. Wow, but I will never be mad at a profit in my pocket.
I hear the Winklevoss twin are the first Bitcoin billionaires. But I'm not sure if that is realized gains, did they get out of enough Bitcoin to claim a billion actual dollars? Who knows but they are probably going to do OK one way or the other.
