Today it was hard to watch sometimes to see all the red on cryptomarketcap, but it's made me realize that i am too spread out. I had over 20 coins, which during times like this it's hard to manage. So I'm thinking 5 to 10 would probably be the best, but there are new coins coming out all the time so you need to be readjusting all the time. Here's what i would say is the top 5 to hold, heavily waited in the top 2.

  1. Bitcoin
  2. Litecoin
  3. Ethereum
  4. Monero
  5. Dash

Bitcoin and Litecoin are market tied it's interesting that you include Monero and Dash, but not Steem. The Contract based currencies have a potential long term growth because they are based in a real property. Bitcoin and Litecoin are likely to equalize.

for a 'low risk' and 'stable' portfolio I agree with you.... but the problem this is the crypto market and the traditional financial rules don't work exactly like that... I think people should also hold some coins with strong potential...
