Can Bitcoin really be broken with quantum computing?

Satoshi had some ideas for how to handle it...

A big part of the drop recently for bitcoin and crypto market as a whole was the announcement by google that they made a breakthrough with quantum computing.

The layman took that as meaning that eventually this technology was going to render bitcoin and most of crypto useless if the encryption could be broken.

And they are not wrong, except...

There are some defenses crypto can take, some of which are mentioned by satoshi here:

These are some interesting ideas.

Not only can bitcoin respond to an attack but an attack isn't nearly as close or likely as some seem to think.

If it was, there would be issues of encryption broken at a whole host of levels and places that would really disrupt our way of life.
