The CEO of Twitter thinks Africa is going to define our future, and bitcoin's

Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter announced that he would be moving to Africa next year.

It wasn't clear exactly where or when, but Dorsey tweeted that he would be moving to Africa sometime in 2020 and living there for at least 3-6 months.

Why is he doing this you might be wondering?

According to him, Africa is going to define our future, and bitcoin's as well!

This was his quote:

"Sad to be leaving the continent…for now. Africa will define the future (especially the bitcoin one!). Not sure where yet, but I'll be living here for 3-6 months mid 2020."

Dorsey spends the last month in Africa

This announcement is coming on the heels of Dorsey spending the last month touring across Africa and meeting with different tech and blockchain entrepreneurs.

The tour included stops in Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.

This is interesting considering many in the tech space have considered Africa an afterthought when it comes to marketing and building for the future.

Dorsey doesn't seem to think that way.

He's not the only one either.

Jack Ma was in Ethiopia last week as well setting up a new trade platform.

Perhaps this is why...

Lagos, Nigeria’s most populous city is tipped to become a giant metropolis of over 32 million people as soon as 2050. According to data from the World Economic Forum, it will be the most populous city in the world by 2100.

In total, by the next century, 13 of the top 20 global cities by population will be in Africa.

Jack Dorsey is an interesting character, but one that is a strong supporter of bitcoin. He said earlier this year that he thinks it will one day be the de facto currency of the internet.

Interesting to see what he has planned for Africa.

Stay informed my friends.

Since Africa is so economically tied to China, once China launches its blockchain-based digital currency, its ability to influence the African economy cannot be understated.

Need a non sovereign currency as an alternative...

This seems really interesting... Thnx for posting.. I should get mote crypto aswell then xD

Sure, but be selective.

Africa is basically our wasteland... It's where we dump everything we don't need anymore... Then they use all the stuff to build what they need...

That will all be changing over the next several decades. Did you see the stats in there about them having the largest city in the world by the turn of the century according to projections?

I did see that... And I think it might even be true... For civilization to advance technologically, people need to live closer to each other.

Internet and mobile communications become faster and faster by time, but the distance to closest cell tower or fiber optics junction will get shorter.

Some electronics get bigger, but voltage gets lower, others get smaller, but voltage gets higher. Everything leans toward using 5 volts as reference point, even if device use lower or higher voltage.

Man, comes a lot of negativity from you. I've seen the past days a lot of comments of you, practically all negative. What's happening, can I help with something?
Really, try to enjoy more life and keep an open mind.
Have a great day :)

I think sometimes text can be misinterpreted. I didn't find much of anything he's said as overly negative, more like the thoughts of an individual that isn't sugar coated. :)

I have been freelance journalist for last 18 years... I like writing what other people don't dare to say but needs to be heard.

I worked about 15 years for local government... I saw a lot of waste we sent to Africa. Africa isn't the only wasteland we use, China is another... Only difference is that China already has very strong economy and significant share in exports.

Africa is surely a prime ground for cryptocurrency to grow. With government corruption/embezzlement, rampant economic malaise, and rapidly rising inflation making their paper currency worthless, cryptocurrency has some good use for the people of Africa.
