Bubble or not, the phenomenon of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, is being crazy, you just have to look at what happened over the weekend when it reached $ 20,000, doubling its value in just 19 days. However, most people are using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency more as an investment than as a payment method, but in Japan they want to change this.
GMO Internet is a Japanese company that in February 2018 will begin to pay with Bitcoin to those employees interested, this as a way of familiarizing themselves with this type of currency, with what they expect to create an effect of "evangelization" towards other people.
Japan wants you to stop investing and start using Bitcoin
GMO Internet is currently responsible for operating web-based businesses, ranging from finance, advertising, to infrastructure, as well as helping people in Bitcoin transactions, with purchase, sale and exchange.
It is considered that Japan is one of the pioneers in the implementation of businesses that accept Bitcoin, but curiously it is the country with the lowest rate of use, since many are only investing in this cryptocurrency. Therefore, some companies are considering paying their employees with some type of cryptocurrency, which in theory would help boost this type of economy.
GMO Internet employees will have the option to collect part of their salary in Bitcoin, it will not be mandatory and there will be a limit. For example, they can only receive a maximum of 890 dollars in Bitcoin per month, while the minimum will be 88 dollars. In addition to this, what they choose to receive a fraction of their salary in Bitcoin will receive an additional 10% as a bonus for having entered the program.
The option is open for any of the company's 4,000 employees and this will also allow GMO Internet to start up its new cryptocurrency mining business, where employees who have entered the program will be able to join this new mining business. where they will have the possibility to grow their money.
GMO Internet believes that with this decision they will make new companies offer this option to their employees and thus can encourage Bitcoin growth in Japan, not only in investments, but in daily use.
