Finland refers blockchain-based debit cards for refugee IDs

Finnish government announced to have solved the refugees’ identity ıssue with blockchain technology. As Cointelegraph reports, the asylum seekers in Finland get blockchain-based debit cards instead of cash, which enables tracking both spending and identity. The Finnish Immigration Service director, Jouko Salonen admits strongly authenticated identity is no longer an ıssue. The cards are the product of a local startup and together with Mastercard functions more as a bank account replacement than as a simple payment device.
