I had to Google this as I don't pay attention to their ads. I found one article but the guy didn't know what he was talking about.
My system is safe from this kind of malware, but thanks for letting me (us) know!
As always: it is recommended to use an antimalware (antivirus) if you use an operating system that's easily hijacked (usually Windows, but there are others). They're free: don't waste money on paid ones.
I'd also recommend spinning up a VM, just in case things go tits up. Much easier to clone a VM from a clean one than reimage the whole computer.
