I'm a cynic, so I think that governments and banks will develop their own centralized crypto-currencies, and it will simply become a replacement for stocks - except companies are tokenizing instead of going public on a stock exchange. If anything, cryptocurrency will make it easier for governments to track their citizens. That doesn't mean I don't want my slice of the pie in the mean time - I mean it's the invention of electricity we're dealing with here, it's early humans learning to make tools out of metal, it's the printing press; this is the level of impact I believe blockchain-based tech will reach, and I think cryptocurrency will be a part of that and has a lot more growing to do, but in the end I reckon the crypto could be smothered by corporate/political interests if it ever really became a threat.
