Don't buy while the market is crashing. Why try to catch a falling knife?

Until you are confident that the bottom has been put in, sit on your hands and do nothing. And if you can't do that then go ahead and masturbate with one of your free hands - assuming you cant trade at the same time with your free hand.

BTC might be going as low as $2K. Could be $1K.

Be patient.

They buying opportunities will still be there in the future.

If you try to catch a falling knife and fail, you could be damaging your capital in a major way

Well, I don't know if that's the best way either, because BTC drives the market. I mean, I bought some alts at ridiculous prices (in comparison to ATH) but still, if BTC goes to 5k, the alts will bleed massively. And thats a good thing, the shitcoins will disapear, or at least people will be looking better into them before buying them.

Bitcoin has driven the market for cryptos so far. But we've seen bitcoin's dominance dwindle and the altcoins are getting more attention and looking more and more attractive now that some people have transacted in bitcoin ($10 fee and 2 hour transaction times).
I'm thinking this crash will mark the separation of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. Would love to hear your thoughts

I could imagine both.

You know, I see bitcoin as if it was your lifelong wife. (Dont stop reading, it looks ridiculous but give me a chance to explain).

You meet the girl. She is AWESOME, the best, the future, you will die for her.(getting to know BTC)
You marry her, life is getting even better, fresh married life..great! (Your first profits)
The marriage stars getting dull, boring, you start looking at other girls. (You realize that BTC is not so great after all, so many altcoins, so much better, millions tx/s...hmm...maybe...)
When you have a moment of clarity and overcome the bad times in the marriage....you realize the value of that woman and of that relationship, and that there is nothing that compares to it, no matter how shiny they seem.

I dont know why, but I have a feeling that bitcoin is going to be massive. Maybe not as a currency, but eventually as many other things.

People talk about being the digital Gold. I agree. But I also agree that it can be the digital EVERYTHING of our world. I´m not very technical on blockchain, but if you can have some sidechains, attach other chains, forks, etc...bitcoin could host everything.

I imagine some chain that has a utility, and from time to time it inserts its state in the bitcoin chain. You dont overload the mainchain, but you "register" some state from time to time. Example: IDs. You have a chain recording IDs for people, a chain by itself secure, but not as Bitcoin. You could every hour/day/week keep updating your state to BTC. If something happened in your chain you could do a reliable fork from the BTC transaction.

I dont know, maybe Im getting ahead of myself.

The question remains, will we use crypto as currency? (I strongly believe and hope so). If yes, which one, how, how many...etc.

I would rather buy in a bearish market than in a bull market. Most of the people who bought Bitcoin at 18k lost a lot of money. Right now I just think that the market is waiting for a trigger to get back up and when this will happen there will be a lot of FOMO. but this is just my humble opinion :)

You are totally right. It is normal strategy to buy alts when BTC is going down but only when you are sure about the BTC support levels. Where are the support levels now? In last few days every support in which I believe was broken.

Totally with you! I just but some fresh money into LTC and BTC as well as Lisk as I believed it was the bottom. BAM! Again 20% down. I am waiting now to see a continuous trend upwards, signs are not yet there.

An if I miss out 20% up for some days I don't care. Got enough to "win" with my current portfolio.

Once markets stabilise and I am out of the red I will start trading I assume.

Thanks Dave (I know you aren't actually wishing me good luck :-)). I put in a small amount of money as a long-term investment. I don't know enough, nor have enough time or money to daytrade, so I'm buying what I can afford to lose and keeping that money invested instead of freaking out every time the market dives. It's the same as any investment I make, whether in stocks, ETFs, etc.

It depends how much fiat you have. It’s difficult to sit on a load of fiat when the market is increasing so much (like it did before Xmas), so I doubt many crypto investors have stacks of fiat to invest with!

Litecoin and Etherium always a top choice, I like EOS It is right up there with them.
There are a few other alt coins and of coarse steem, which is a really great buy, but with Bitcoin coming down, I think I will jump on more bitcoin a little at a time and some alt coin, being Litecoin Etherium and EOS.
Maybe even some bitcoin cash, it’s come down to where it was before it went crazy, so I believe it will go higher again, pick what you like and buy what you can afford and enjoy the ride!
Again Iwill focus more on Bitcoin, only 16 million makes me want part of that pie.

I'm also buying up EOS, NEO, and IOTA.

For high-risk high-potential-return I like IOSToken right now. It has it all: hype, volume, super low market cap, and it's a full blockchain platform (not just a service that runs on one).

I don't know if this is considered spam or not, but I just finished my first SteemIt post and it's a slightly stoney theory about big banks possibly pushing this crash lower than the market action alone. Right now, most people are probably confused & thinking, "WTF?!?!" If you have a lot of money invested and you're losing a lot, the best thing (I think) to do, right now, is HODL. Patience through these hiccups will end up paying off in the long term because crypto is definitely an idea whose time has come. Volatility in the PetroDollar has been expected for a long time and is, in fact, overdue. While the dollar & the stock markets go through their chaos, many more people are now going to be looking for a "safe haven." Crypto is here to move finances & money into the future and it's not going to go anywhere. I would not be surprised to see BitCoin and many of the other major coins go screaming upwards very soon. As the old FIAT systems prove, once again, they are failed experiments - blockchain technology, while still flawed and cumbersome to use, is going to seize this opportunity to shine. Stand fast.

And, if you do have the ability to invest into some more - or some new - cryptos, they are all on sale right now. I think big profits are coming in cryptos this year - even bigger and better than we had in 2017.

I got to be honest this is a huge test. A test for all the newbies that got into crypto when the prices were skyrocketing. Its not all roses and green grass, this crash was needed. It will weed out the weak from the strong. I bought more XLM, TRX, XRP, BTC, ETH and PAC. This is a sale of all sales. If people are new to crypto or thought they missed the boat here's their chance. Strike while the iron is "red" hot!

Oh very much so! But high risk means high reward. I bought a few million when it was 0.00001 The team has really been turning it around. They have an awesome white paper and road map. They are doing a coin burn at the moment for 1000 to 1 ratio. That right there will increase pacs value. After the coin burn ill have close to a 800,000 and I know pac will hit a dollar. At the moment, a little too jumpy to get into much of anything, aside from continued support for Steem. Also looking at edging into BTS... with some uncertainty on the table, I like the idea of buying something that has an authentic "economic reason" for being... Steem has Steemit and a bunch of apps and soon SMTs. Bitshares... well, that speaks for itself. Too many coins out there are just a white paper that used the word "blockchain" 43 times.

I'll most likely be buying more EOS. The community is infectious, it hits most (if not more) of its milestones, and Dan is ahead of his time - all great signs for the coin. The only potential downside is knocking out a giant like Ethereum, however it has been in the #9 spot.

I did some quick calculations last week while sitting in my Physiology lecture, and for EOS to reach BTC's market cap at the time of calculations, EOS (with its circulating supply) would have to hit around $249 per coin. If EOS can be successful in all its promises, I don't see why it couldn't hit at least twenty dollars - which, if you were to buy now, would be a nice profit!

It's too early to jump in with both feet to buy and hold, however if you have the time and money to watch the moves, there are plenty of opportunities to make some decent coin on those moves on a daily basis. Just watch the Volume and RSI of ETH or LTC and make your buys and sales.

Weak hands and FUD is never a good combination. If someone doesn't understand the technology of the coin that they are investing in, they should get out of crypto RIGHT AWAY. To quote a Redditor that goes by the name Sendmybar:

When you panic sell at times like this you are offloading your crypto to people who are very aware that the market will swing back up. Institutional money was never going to jump into crypto at the ATH and make all is little guys rich in the process, that not what they do.

Just keep calm, and HODL. We're in this for the long run, not for short-term "Lambo/Moon" gains.

I am buying MinexCoin and Electroneum.

First MinexCoin is a pretty new to the market but it has an unique system with POS and POW. I believe this coin will get its 5 minutes in the spotlight.

Electroneums price like every other coin has dropped to 5 cents making it very desirable to buy at this moment. Also a new coin with a interesting future.

DON'T PANICSELL!!!!

I simply recommend that all shaky hands do nothing while we are going through the Elliot wave on the supposedly sinking ship. Wait until the market has stabilised and then buy back if necessary. Don't sell your "losses"! You'll be happy when the prices start to rise again.

Personally, I'll do some shopping at the lowest point. I will orientate myself on good, renowned projects

STEEM, ETH, BTC, PAY, NEO, IOTA, DASH, PRE, SEND, OMG, SUB, to name but a few of my coins.

It's such a good time for using that cash balance, personally I disagree on the waiting front, if you believe in a coin and feel the price is too good to be missed why not at least ladder some buys in? It's hard to predict where the bottom is but I feel at least hopeful that we'll see good resistance at $6k for BTC, obviously the rest will follow as usual!

Another one for some NEO, it was doing very well and is strong and feel its got a way to go. I also got some more Lumens. I've been holding Lumens for a while and like their progress. I have just been buying small amounts of crypto on the way down and cant believe why people are selling at these prices. All in all i'm pretty relaxed about the whole thing and am trying to keep emotion out of it (although as a whole the crypto space is so easily manipulated by fud, gov and institutional money, hoping it becomes more robust) .

I´m not doing anything right now... what I have invested is going down and the opportunities to buy are here, but I love to be greedy so I´m going to wait for prices even cheaper!

Then I´ll invest in coins like: ICX, WABI, OST, AION, NAS, POWR, TEL, ZRX, BRD, NEO, EOS and some ETH of course.
This way I get a big amount of coins on my portfolio for cheap, and its all projects that I like with a lot of potential to make 10X+ this year!

Guys, one might consider trying new things in this kind of market.
If you have ethereum, its still has great value in cryptogaming.
One ethereum can be traded for 1.5 ethereum. Only the US$ value changes, not the amount of ethereum you have or get.

The coins are relatively cheap, I will still wait until the support levels will become real and confirmed from more sources, then I go to hunt some coins. It does not matter if I get them for a bit more expensive price, but I will definitely go for my favorites, to have more, or to have a new entry in my portfolio.

Honestly I am still waiting it out I have a feeling all tonight and tomorrow will be a blood bath as well. I'm looking for a bottom on bitcoin around $4,000 to $4,500 that will be my buy in signal for any crypto.
