Costa Rican companies were allowed to pay part of the salary in bitcoins. This was reported by the Costa Rica News. Expert Rolando Perlaza noted that the trend for cryptocurrencies has already been picked up by some companies and he has all the chances to take root in Costa Rica.

Last year, the Central Bank said it does not recognize cryptocurrencies within its financial system, but citizens will have the opportunity to use digital coins to pay for goods. However, this innovation may mean a softening of the Regulator's position on digital coins. Rolando Perlaza noted that the residents of the country will be able to dispose of the bitcoins provided. In this case, they will take all the risks. But Costa Ricans will still be protected by the Labor Code.
According to local legislation, residents have the right to demand part of the salary in foreign currency and goods. The main condition for this approach is that the main part of the salary will be equal to the minimum wage. This is important because the country is growing the number of institutions that accept cryptocurrency. In addition, the number of ATMs is increasing.

A similar practice was introduced in Japan, where you can even buy a car or a house for bitcoins.
