Lost Bitcoin (BTC)? Try a Wallet Recovery Service or Hypnotist. If All Else Fails - Seek Therapy!

What lengths would you go through to recover your lost bitcoins?

I assume that as the price of BTC rises, so does one's willingness to go to exceptional lengths to recover what was lost.

How about a wallet recovery service? Or how about a hypnotist that charges 1BTC + 5% of balance recovered?

This dude went through great lengths (and tried a hypnotist) to recover 7.4 BTC when that was worth a measly $8,799 compared to today's rate. By the time end of his ordeal...I mean educational journey, 7.4 BTC was worth $32,208. He must be one happy dude because that is now worth approximately 127k.

This poor sap lost his phone that contained his 12 word recovery phrase.

One person commented:

"It is cheaper and faster to literally walk the entirety of the earth looking for your phone, vs. trying to take control of a wallet without the original private key"

(now that is some tough love!)

These types of lost and recovered BTC tales will only increase in the future as BTC keeps mooning.

Who thought that those 3 BTC that I gave out in paper wallets as gifts would ever be worth anything?

If BTC hits a million then 0.01 = 10k. I bet people have those BTC sums lying around in one of the many exchanges they are registered on and have used.

Someday we might all be going to great lengths to remember where we could have had BTC.

Let that sink in.

P.S. Even if you don't lose your key. Don't die without reading this first!

I know the feeling. About 5 years ago or so I tinkered around to try mining bitcoin on four toshiba librettos I had in the cupboard. Then I got bored as it was tedious and relatively worthless. I reckon I mined two bitcoins. Since then, the HDDs have been taken out, put back in, reinstalled linux and mucked about with. I wonder how high bitcoin will have to go before I try to search through them all and see if anything is there. Of course, I could be wrong, maybe, in the end, I didn't mine any at all... : )

I think its BTC's current price is worth looking right now. Who knows - you could be surprised that you mined more than 2 :)

I really thought you were kidding about the Hypnotist. 1BTC is a lot to pay, before hand if the hypnotism doesnt work. The "I forgot my pin" wired article was an absolute thriller to read. :) Thanks for sharing them :)

I think the 1 BTC is paid only if it works (hopefully). I can't imagine someone paying 1BTC regardless of a result.

Taken from the article "The good news is that the 5% fee is due only after the password is recovered. However, one Bitcoin should be paid before the first session starts." Someone would go this hypnotist out of real desperation :)

Well, if you have 100 BTC lost - 1BTC to try to get it back might be worth it. This might be a hypnotist for the high net worth individual (or super-desperate). As BTC rises, that hypnotist will find that he will have a lot of business - or none - given the cost.

BTC price is now unbliveable.
