Easiest way to cost average - Cash.app

in bitcoin •  6 years ago

I spoke briefly about this on yesterday's helpie hangout, but I figured it might be best to put this out on a post and show others how simple it is to do. After all, it's undeniable that the best way to invest is to cost average your buys, and having a system that allows doing so be simple is a must.

I kept on seeing this logo everywhere online and honestly I even forgot that at some point in time I had used it myself. Yes, funnily enough many years ago someone paid me using this app and I had an account from those days, but of course it looked very different.

Now this app has been going up in the ranks on the app markets, and if you look regularly for what's out there, you've probably ran across it by now. It allows you transfer funds between users, send requests, keep a little money on the side, so to speak, and even use a debit card to access your side money too.

Linking your accounts take absolutely no effort and less than a couple of minutes. But, getting the BTC purchasing to work will require some more work. You have to scan your driver's license, and in my particular case I had to reach out to them since it was still giving me issues. That being said, it was worth it.

What about fees?

Yes, the somewhat unavoidable cost of transacting, but honestly as far as I know Cash.app is beating the competition by a long shot. Yes, you can use localbitcoins, coinbase or what have you, but the spread is usually ugly and also not convenient in the case of localbitcoins at least.

Exchange Rate

Your exchange rate for buying and selling Bitcoin through the Cash App is calculated using the current market rate across the most popular U.S. exchanges, plus a spread determined by the size of your transaction and market volatility. The exchange rate may differ between transactions, and may also differ from exchange rates available to you from other buyers and sellers of Bitcoin.

Of course results may vary (I always wanted to say that), but yesterday I bought $5 dollars worth of BTC and after confirming the purchase I had 4.96 on my wallet. The "bastards" took 4 pennies from me and I'm working on forgiving them. Yes, I'm being silly.

Since I'm in this for the long haul, this part of the puzzle was key and I'm happy to have found it. Keep in mind you can only withdraw at the moment, you can't send BTC to your cash.app to cash out, but they are working on this feature and I'm sure soon enough it will be available.

Damn I was excited for this but the app is not available in New Zealand

This is a great indication of continued progress as the owner of the Cash App Square is very big in setting up merchants for payment processing. This could be the first steps to improving adoption towards payments given the amount of merchant they currently have using other solutions within their ecosystem.

I've used CASH.app for three years (or so) now. I never needed an ID. I just needed to link the account to a bank/credit union account similuar to how PayPal works (which I also never needed and ID for).
CASH started their Bitcoin gaming several months ago, maybe a year. It's only good for playing the market since the only thing you can do with the Bitcoin is cash it back out into the app. You can't transfer it around to buy things or give to others or anything like you can with Dollars on the fiat side of the app.
