Someone gave you 100,000 Bitcoin?
That was the question that sprang to my mind at 3 am on Tuesday night.
I have a small health issue at the moment. I'm suffering with a frozen shoulder and it's painful in most positions and wakes me up frequently during the night so I'm not sleeping well at the best of times.
I had physio on Tuesday (again) and it seems to be improving, but it wipes me out for the rest of the day.
So, as well as being in pain and waking up numerous times during the night, I also have my brain being an obnoxious git by asking these questions.
So I'm going to make the most of it. I finally fell asleep after almost 2 hours mulling the problem over in my mind.
The solution must have been satisfactory to my brain because I was allowed to sleep.
My solution:
If someone gave me 100,000 bitcoin - of course I would have to contact a lot of other bitcoin holders and demand payment for NOT dumping them all onto the market, causing the price to plummet.
Oh, ok... the Dr Evil school of economics rejected, I'll go for what I really thought up.
With the proceeds of renting out those Bitcoin, I would build a school.
Yep. That's what I thought up.
Not just any school, however. It would be a school specifically for children of working parents - and parents who wanted to work but couldn't because of child-care issues.
The school would open from 7am to serve breakfast and take the children in so parents could go off to work. Breakfast would be free for the children and at a subsidised rate for adults. In that way, everyone would get more sleep because they would only have to get up, washed and dressed and go on to breakfast together and then on to their day.
People with children at the school would be preferred employees, giving them opportunity to work in the kitchens and other staff positions - including teaching staff where applicable.
The school day would finish at 6pm to give parents chance to get back from work to pick up their children.
The children would be fed throughout the day (snacks and full lunch and another snack, then another meal at around 4pm) and then possibly similar arrangements to breakfast for the evening meal.
Breaks and play-times would be longer, giving the feeling of relaxation rather than indoctrinating them into the rush-rush-rush mode we seem to have now.
Lessons would include curriclum and non-curriculum learning:
gardening - planting edible crops as well as plant care
reading - for pleasure, not just for classes and lessons
physical education - every day but in a 'play' environment, not mandatory (basically, what the kids enjoy, rather than curriculum-based)
home-crafts - washing, housework, mending (button-sewing etc)
crafts - sewing, knitting, crochet, card-making etc
The most revolutionary part of this school, however, would be the term-times (semesters).
Rather than terms or semesters as we know them now, the school would not close for extended times at the end of a term or semester. I always found it hard to go back to school after a long break and I bet I wasn't alone in that dread.
If we have regular school, every day, then not only is learning a regular thing, but also, parents won't need to find child-care during those times. PLUS, mealtimes together as a family are important.
I did think that this kind of school would also help with holidays (vacations) because having set holiday times means parents are held to ransom by holiday companies, but if you have 28 days in which to take your children on holiday from school, it makes the whole year flexible.
Of course, my fatigued brain didn't come up with any of the logistics of such a plan.
So, what would you do with 100,000 Bitcoin? For this, you're not allowed to employ Dr Evil's Ruin the Economy by dumping it on the market strategy.

Without going into great detail I would help those first that I see in the city I live in. There seems to be more and more homeless and also help the families I see that are barely getting by.
In America, we used to have the middle class which is rapidly all becoming the lower class or poor. No longer can the middle class live the life they saw their parents live.
It would be nice to also have places where people could reset when going through traumatic events. There are so many natural disasters and unforeseen events.

Awesome plan!
Where I live, there are lots of areas of great deprivation. A few years ago some of the areas were listed in the top 100 of most deprived areas in the country - I actually stood in council chambers and told the council that was NOT something to be proud of that we had 3 areas in our county that got in the top 10 on that list. Shocking and disgraceful.

Yep agreed, and I live in one of those places too. I volunteered at our local school and It is awful to see children in this day and age having to eat breakfasts at school because their parents can't afford to feed them. :( It is a sad state of affairs

I would buy a mahoosive farm! On the farm, I would build huts or pods for families to come stay at the farm and learn about farm life, either for educational reasons or just for fun! So many kids don't know where their food comes from and I think it is important to teach them. Also, many families live in concrete jungles and never see a tree (OK, a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get where i am coming from). I think it would be great for people to be able to see a different side of life than buildings and man made 'stuff'. Kids could go fetch their own eggs for breakfast and cook sausage and eggs on mini BBQ's outside their huts etc, or they could come in to the home kitchen and eat with us as a family.
I have soooo many dreams about this lol

I'd also buy Annesley Hall and Newstead Abbey (possibly Rufford Abbey too) and restore them to their original glory and use them as heritage centres. I think you'd get where I'm coming from with this additional info ;)

absolutely! I am obsessed with Annesley hall, how can they let it go to ruin like it has! Although I am hopeful that someone is doing something with it as there are council notices outside. Put me down for helping out on those lol ;)

I have an on-going love affair with Annesley Hall. Blood on the Moon is set (in part) there. If you're reading the story, we're about to get there...

First of all, I would buy my own housing and quit my job, half the sum I would organize a public organization that provided help to the hungry on the whole Earth. And the remaining funds sent to help all the disadvantaged and needy.
P.s. Health to your shoulder.

Hi @michelle.gent. Sorry about your Shoulder. Pele gan (meaning "very sorry"). I hope the physio works. Nice thought you have here about what you will do with such bitcoin.
For me, I will start by finding out what the amount is at the time of receiving it and after getting an answer to that. I will find from crypyto currency expert on how I can make more bitcoin from the one I am having.
The main project I have in mind is building an Orphanage for the less privileged and Old People's home for elderly people. Things like that are not well taken care of from where I come from. Doing this will give those children hope of becoming somebody in life and the old people will not see old age as a curse but a blessing. I will also build homes for widows and widowers who do not have other means of livelihood. Give scholarship to youths to further their education.
I will also build a hub where people can come around to talk about steemit and other kind business that will be productive to the society. Like what @STACH is doing presently in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. This is the more reason why I cannot afford to squander the fund for the sake of continuity of this project.
Like you said"
The above project and other humanitarian project will be embark upon. Just to mention few of the things I intend to do with the fund.
One of my dream is to keep youths out of the street due to unemployment. That is what steemit has done some youth that I know presently because they are always on the steemit steaming.
This is my own conclusion.
Thanks for this thoughtful question.
Always your fan @optimistdehinde

i would buy an acre of land and build the biggest library ever. Where you would get a copy of any book that you want. Where you would need probably the whole day to just take a tour of the library. A heaven for readers and knowledge seekers.

Wow, @michelle.gent! What an amazing idea. Too bad something like this doesn't exist now. So many families would benefit from a school such as this. It would be marvellous if you could see this to fruition. Aw, but first you need 100,000 bitcoin!
Hope your shoulder heals quickly. Nasty business this frozen shoulder...

Love your ideas! I would move to your school (if you would let me have a small apartment there) - invest my Bitcoin in it and add a library and an art building, where I could teach (and learn from) the children and any adults who might be interested as well ... and spend the rest of the time writing to my heart's content. I've taught art classes to adults in the past and really enjoyed it. I would be very happy spending the rest of my life doing something like that ....

I would have a retreat centre for people with food allergies to be able to come to and do an elimination diet without distraction. They would have help designing a better diet for themselves and lessons in how to prepare suitable foods. Unlike many other retreats, it wouldn't be pushing a vegetarian agenda, but would be open to whatever is the best diet for each person.
There would also be natural therapists of all kinds working from the centre. It would be in an urban area, so that the facilities are also available to people who live and work nearby.
