Yesterday the news came out that Soros will start trading cryptocurrencies and today also the Rockefellers followed. When I read this news, I immediately realized that this could end very well or very bad for Bitcoin. Anyway, it is sad that these financial giants get in before 99% of the world population, while this technology was invented to disrupt them and give power back to the people.

Will they short BTC into the ground or ride a giant uptrend?
The first 9 years of Bitcoin I was so happy that for the first time in history the common man could invest and get rich before the bankers, it looks like this era is history already……..
Who are George Soros and the Rockefellers?
I don’t want to speak to much about them, probably you know something about the history of these guys and if not you can read HERE about Soros and HERE about the Rockefellers. What I can say is that they have a very bad reputation and like to profit over the loses of others and don’t fear manipulation.
Is this bullish or bearish for Bitcoin?
I think short term this is bullish for Bitcoin, but long term bearish. Of course it was to expect that Bitcoin would get attention from them, but I hoped it would come later when the network is more matured.
Why is it bullish?
We are talking about multi billionaires and they can make the price skyrocket with a tiny part of their wealth if they trade in the right direction. Furthermore, they could be an example for other wealthy investors and attract them to Bitcoin too. This could bring in a load of new money to Bitcoin that makes the current market cap look like tip money.
Why is it bearish?
The Rockefellers and Soros as wel are currently among the most powerful people on earth and Bitcoin will undermine their power. This means that they will be happy to destroy or damage Bitcoin. The question is whether their intention is to destroy the network or to control an as big as possible part of it by investing to be able to be the elite in the ‘new world’ too.
Furthermore, they are very famous for manipulation and shorting. They could try to damage the network and execute a huge short using futures. The next attack on Bitcoin could come from the wealthiest in the world in the form of manipulation to keep the status quo. However, I think this will not be a short term risk, since Bitcoin is heavily undervalued at the moment. Shorting an undervalued asset is way more risky and expensive, so it makes more sense to pump it up first and short it down after.
Why are they investing now?
Why are they about to get started with crypto’s now? Does it signal the bottom or is it just coincidence? I will describe a few possible reasons, but beware, it is just speculation:
They organized the crash to buy in cheap
They could have seen that it is not possible or at least not easy to destroy Bitcoin, so they decided that they want to capture an as big as possible share of the total supply to keep in control as much as possible. They could have accumulated Bitcoin in the previous run, triggered the bear market by dumping it on the top and shorted it all the way down.
When 6k was reached the upward pressure became to strong to profit from shorting the price down. This is the perfect time to announce involvement and buy in big for the best possible price. Now they can ride a huge uptrend and show the world how perfect they timed the market. When Bitcoin is at high valuations they can start shorting again and repeat this cycle.
They see a good entry point
Maybe they didn't do anything in the cryptocurrency market yet and just decided to enter. Bitcoin is undervalued now and the end of the tax season, the historically positive 2nd quarter and decreasing price drops made them positive on Bitcoin and decide to invest.
They look for shelter because of a collapse in the financial markets
The stock market doesn't look good at all and the outlook for the USD is not positive either. They might see a collapse coming and want to secure their assets. Maybe their involvement signals the end of the American empire and the rise of Bitcoin.
They want to attack Bitcoin
They could feel threatened by the explosive rise of Bitcoin and want to destroy it. With their huge stack of money and power over the media they could attack Bitcoin by pumping competing coins and misleading people by spreading false information (Bcash style on steroids).
What I think is most likely
I think the most likely scenario is that they pump the markets first. To short while making money off it the market need to be overvalued, because only when many weak hands are selling you are able to buy in cheaper and maintain or grow your stack. These guys have proven to be greedy, so I think long makes way more sense at the moment. Beside that the upwards potential is much bigger at the moment than the downside.
Furthermore, Soros is already a big investor in overstock.com. When he start shorting the market down he will harm his own investment and trade against himself. When he goes long on Bitcoin the outlook for Overstock will improve and his stocks will gain value. Also, it looks like the Rockefellers will mostly invest in the infrastructure, what will drive positive value. However, they might try to influence the industry to their own best and that could be negative. They managed to create the current banking cartel…………
I think long term it will only be positive price wise, but for the long term I am quite worried. I really wonder what kind of games these big guys will play with this currently tiny asset class. I wish they would come in a few years later or even better:
Not at all………..

They first have to buy crypto before they can short it, so any new money coming in to the market is a good thing

You're right here toucancrypto. If Michiel is right, cryptocurrency will have come and gone before half the world's population have even heard of it. I'm new to this and I figured that out straight away. Blockchain applications is surely where this tech is going rather than currency?

This very experienced business men's know what they are doing and they know how to build a fortune, if they are coming in, then crypto is ready to go to the moon... Next month will be very interesting!
This looks very obviously as a bottom, the reason they want to invest now is that the risk is super small, and the potential winnings are to big to be wasted.

I don´t see that happening, especially if this investors come on board.
Fibonacci indicator was pointing to the $6K low and it looks pretty good to me now.

Have you done any research on how Soros has made his billions? He makes most of his money by taking big short positions, and wiping out the folks that are long.
Look up Soros and the British pound. He took a huge short position and made billions.
As crypto market matures, there are now MANY ways to make money shorting Bitcoin.
Put all your money into hoping BTC price goes up if you want - Soros will be more than happy to take all your money. He loves it when NOOBS try to play in the big boy market and lose their pants.
Very very very naive to assume that all this big money boys showing up to crypto market are going to be pushing prices up.
These are the big money and smart money guys. They are as likely to be pushing BTC price down as up.
Truth is they will be pushing in both directions and they will set up positions and strategies so they can make money as prices go up and as prices go down.

In this situation we have to remember that these are the people who print money, they do not need to use money aside from keeping up appearances to the public (somewhat).
Would they need to hedge themselves against a financial crash - probably not, they already own a huge portion of the valuable land, infrastructure, industry and assets on the earth. Realistically, they possess real wealth which is tangible and not subject to market fluctuations.
Any announced entry into decentralized markets is assuredly with an agenda which will not help the bottom 99 percent live in abundance. I am still awaiting the announcement of centralized cryptos put out by the banks.
Thanks for the perspective and heads up on this announcement @michiel. Vigilance of a solid united community is the only thing that could keep crypto heading towards greatness... I really hope that in the near future some more able than I in the tech world could come up with a solution to things such as this. I would gladly participate in any way I could.
The only way to return abundance to the people may to be to stop using currency all together as the intangible is so easily manipulated.
I don't claim to have the answers but what comes first, the question or the answer?

To me, this seems as inevitable as India banning cryptos. These rich guys enjoy the control they have over the monetary system, but they are starting to realize the gig is almost up. If they really want to stay super wealthy, buying into crypto is a good idea. Soros drops a billion into Bitcoin today, in ten years it's worth fifty.
Killing Bitcoin wouldn't do much, people would just start using LTC, or DSH, or any number of existing currencies, or a yet to be invented one. Getting in early is a way better idea.
