Government crypto currencies built on a blockchain? Not likely with the blockchain as we know it. No government would find it efficient to prove transactions by having miners solve a cryptographic puzzle for each block. And who would do the mining, excess capacity in government computers? There are any number of currency schemes which do not require blockchains. And of course governments would never allow a public blockchain, since then you could decode at least in part, what their people were doing with your money.
