Less than a moth ago, Sears Holdings integrated bitcoin payments at their stores. Read my post here.
A few days back, Rakuten, Japan's largest online retailer, announced they too are integrating cryptocurrencies payment on their platform. Read my post here.
And the question was how long before customers could use cryptocurrencies at Amazon?
Apparently not long!
4 days later today, cryptocurrency start-up firm Moon announced they have developed their Lightning Network (LN) -enabled wallet and extension, allowing customers the option to shop on Amazon using Bitcoin, among other cryptocurrencies.
The "Moon" browser is currently pending approval on chrome, brave browser, and Opera. Other e-commerce retailers will also be supported soon, including Domino's, Target, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, etc.
While Amazon has no direct integration with the Bitcoin network, what Moon offers is a simple, instant & secure third party integration which allows Amazon to be paid in FIAT.
It will be a matter of time, when the volume of cryptcurrency transactions on Amazon become too huge to ignore, that they come to full realization of the immense untapped potential. Let's hope that day comes sooner, rather than later.
