In this video I talk about lazy affiliates placing their affiliate links in YouTube content creators comments section and how it is not the best use of one's time and why a lot of affiliates do not make any money.
There are much better ways to make money online than to spam your affiliate link all over people's YouTube channels as it is not really bringing any value to subscribers of that channel.
If you are a content creator of any type have you ever had a lazy affiliate place their affiliate link in the comments section of your video or article? Please comment below on your experience.

I think most Youtube spam comments are done by bots, I can't imagine people are stupid enough to waste their time manually doing this. I know some people do but they are stupid as they are just wasting their own time.
The majority of them are caught by Youtubes spam filter but some do skip through.
What's a bigger headache is sometimes good comments get caught by the spam filter so I like to manually go through and allow some or allow links as oftentimes I ask my subscribers to drop a link but whats frustrating is having to sort through literally thousands of spam comments to find the legit ones, I can't even keep up with it.
What's even more frustrating with this is people who steal my videos and reupload them, happens about a dozen times a week.
I just subbed to your channel, not to be a spammer but check my stuff out I think you may like it, I'm into affiliate marketing, merch, ecommerce, kindle publishing, really just hustling

I think it is a combination of techniques unfortunately. I've seen a couple of software packages that auto post or auto comment to followers(Lazy subs and content creators I guess). I've also seen real people trolling as well who have attempted to recruit me after I left a comment to the channel owner!!! Agree with MrWalt that it is extremely annoying.

@rulesforrebels I'm actually subbed to your channel and I have seen a few f your videos. However, I agree that some comments are bot driven, but a good number of them are done manually as well. I have had a few people take my video content but not many due to the type of content that it is. Also my channel is nowhere near the size of your channel. But I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and comment as it is very much appreciated and I will definitely stop by your Steemit blog and YT channel more often.

Hi @mrwalt, Though there are lots of videos at YouTube on Affiliate Marketing but a few of them are useful because most of these marketers just talk about a process where you have to have a landing page to drive traffic to capture emails/optins and then you heat up the traffic to buy something that you're selling through affiliate links. Now this requires doing the right advertising where some basic Maths is also involved. You have to calculate how much you're paying to get a single email and ultimately, how many sales you're making. This also involves several split tests. So, these technical things make noobs in this industry frustrated. Most of the marketers won't dare to spend money online thinking it would cost them a lot. They should know it does not cost that much. In my view the real issue is that there is plethora of content available on this topic and most noobs like me get confused on differentiating the right one from the wrong one. MrWalt, I was very happy to read the title of this post thinking there would be some good advice regarding affiliate marketing in it but eventually, I got disappointed because it was just about spamming. Can you do a little 'done for you' video on affiliate marketing so that your followers like me could get benefited from your experience? I regularly read your posts and quality of the content make me resteem, upvote and comments on your posts. I'm not sure about others but I'm really looking forward to reading something from you on this topic. I'll appreciate that.
Happy steeming.

@ugetfunded I appreciate your honest feedback and I will start moving in the direction of providing more detailed videos on how to actually get better results rather than just general talk. However, you correct that a lot of affiliates do not want to take the take the time to properly track their results so that they can maximize their results. These are the things that are necessary in order to be profitable and remain profitable.

@lizzyb I know that it is crazy that you cannot even have a decent conversation with someone without them them trying to recruit you into something.

@lizzyb as you get older and start investing in this industry it is easy to see that this method of placing random affiliate links through out other people' YouTube channel comments is very ineffective.

Thankfully I have not had a lazy affiliate place their affiliate link in the comments section, but I'm grateful for you. You brought this to my attention because if they do I will put this post as my reply to them. Thanks for the heads up!

@kubbyelizabeth that is a good thing that you have not had to deal with this yet. This mainly only happens in the affiliate marketing/mlm space as there are a lot of new people that come online and see others doing it and think that this is how you make money online. That is not how you recruit or refer people to a program.

I agree, I did find someone who did this yesterday. I decided to take a look at their comment section and they did this to several people. Which is a shame. They actually write really good quality post, but don't take the time to engage with other like minded people within the community.

@kubbyelizabeth If people would just take the time to share their content and not always worry about making a commission the money would just flow to them endlessly as people are attracted to people that share their story.

@lembach3d I'm not aware that a person spamming their affiliate links in people's YouTube comments was ever a part of the SEO game.

Yes. More websites linking to yours improoves ranking.
Actually if the link relates to the content of the original post, I find it does add value, so I like it. Only if it is just random nonsense I consider it spam.

@lembach3d to a certain existent multiple backlinks pointing to your site can help with your rankings but these are also affiliate links which I rarely see get indexed anywhere near the first 5 pages of Google for a particular keyword. However, the main reason these people spam their affiliate links is to get signups which this is the wrong way to go about it.

Agreed.
But if you are in a specialised field, like myself, little spamming can have an great effect in the ranking. But also someone has to actually click on it.
I tried a bit. But since my comments did not get removed, i guess the original poster is ok with it.
You have to keep trying new things. What works today is not working tomorrow.
Especially if it is annoying people it cant be good marketing. It is always best to try to add real value. If people can appreciate your effort they will appreciate your product.

@lembach3d a lot of people that this comments are on did not really manage or monitor their YouTube channels which is why the comments a lot of times aren't removed. However, long term I do not see the spamming of comments to be a good thing.

@cryptotraderx they do not necessarily need a website as there are a lot of free websites that they can setup or start their own channel as opposed to posting on other people's YouTube channels.

@sergiomendes I agree that it is not for everyone, but everyone can surely at least follow the basics. This starts with not spamming your affiliate link across other people's YouTube channels who aren't going to click on an affiliate link in the comments anyway.
