Thanks @nathanmars for the wonderful question it is really a nice topic of discussion. In my own thinking, investing in SP is much more better than investing in SBD. As far as the future of crypto-currency is concerned, SP will surely have a higher value than SBD. SP value will be a thousand more times worth than SBD like you said. Let me end it at that for now.

Where would you invest your money SBD or SP?

I would invest my money in Steem power than SBD. @nathanmars this is a great pump of wisdom and sense in many of us ‘’newbies’’ on this platform.

Thanks so much for this yet another challenging and educative question. Crypto is still in its infancy subject to several stiff criticisms from the different governments but has great hopes of growing every other day into something that is irresistible in the nearby future and this will mean a high increase in demand and value of steem.

The reason why some people power down their SP is because of their having a high marginal propensity to consume than to save and invest what they have at hand.

The reasons why I would invest in steem power than SBD

For newbies: Steem power refers to steem that is held in your account as fixed shares or investment in Steemit whereas SBD is liquid crypto that can easily be converted/traded into other coins or cashed out into fiat currency.

The coin market cap shows that steem is of more value and having a bigger rank than SBD therefore I would rather invest in steem which is growing more in value than SBD which still has a long way to go.

The secret of flourishing on Steemit lies in the amount of steem power one accumulates or possesses on the steemit platform. Personally i have never powered down the little steem power that I have so far accumulated in the space of 5 months I have stuck around on this platform. However most of the steem power I possess is a delegated one which is now 1052sp. With the little time I have been on Steemit and the learning I have so far acquired about steem, steem power and SBD. Investing in Steem power stands out to be the outstanding and a great step for success on Steemit and in the crypto world as a whole.

Steem power makes you more influencial on the Steemit platform in regards to earning more on curation and also attracting many steemians to your blog to have interactions and their contributions on what you are building.
Steem power enables you to earn passive income like you have mentioned above.

In a nutshell I rather invest in steem power than SBD in order not to live in regrets in future when I come to a realisation that steem has doubled and become $100 worth than SBD.

where would you invest my money, SBD or SP, if you stayed with STEEM for a few more years? I have many plans in mind in the long term, but my first investment will be to build the kitchen of my house buy a camera and material for the making of my recipe videos.
I am a fish of only a few months and my rewards are small, but I am sure I will get it.
I would not like to sell, my sp because I have invested my time to get them and I will enjoy them and help the people. My SBD are the ones that will help me achieve my goals .

Hello friend @nathanmars answering your question no doubt you have to invest in SP this is the future I read many posts about this and statistics indicate that the SP can reach a value as high as Bitcoin

I have also noticed how those great whales publish poor content and you realize how they get so many possible votes that many people who strive to make good content also realize how they get comments and do not bother to answer any of them

As I also know whales or people with a high level that support those people who are at a low level, for example I have good friends who have supported me a lot to get ahead on the platform

My friend about the video I can not record one since I do not have a smart phone to record a live video in Venezuela maybe you know how things are here and buying a cell phone is very expensive for us could you maybe take some pictures and do a recipe in my kitchen so you could see that I'm not a bots

I’m engaging with you because I watched your Dlive video and it makes our interactions comfortable.

So many minnows don’t really understand “money and power” making this world go around.

Crypto is trying to revolutionise the money and power structure of the world and redistribute them among all humans. Having some SP means that in the future, you can just produce SBD out of thin air for yourself. Basically you can produce your own money. This is fucking amazing and it’s like having a super computer to mine Bitcoin.

Ultra Super Mega agree with you, and how actions are worth more than words. You can check my wallet, all the STEEM that I won lately I invested in SP.

I have some SBDs to take to POWER UP and keep investing in what I believe is a great investment. I do not know if you remember, I told you that sometimes I also think about selling the house (as you did), but it gives me a little fear to think about my three children and my wife. However, I already have my car for sale to pay a debt that I invested completely in SP.

Two years from now, with the help of God, we can help more people. (Meanwhile I do it, with what I have within my reach). And above all, educating people about the potential of this platform and investing in their future according to their possibilities.

With regard to whales and bots, it is very sad to see sometimes how they make scams to the little ones, selling them "pregnant birds" disguised in supposed popularity.

And if someone advocates helping the little ones, sometimes they throw you into a bonfire.

Where would you invest your money, SBD or SP.

It is already obvious that my investment will be base solely on SP, STEEMPOWER in the future could be liking to $100 or more in couple years time. The desire to hold on to SP we have now is imperative and getting to invest more in it since that is our future here on steemit. I have read a lot of piece indicating that there is no future for sbd, it is only created to make steem more stronger, its existence now is of great harm to steem since the price is almost equal. The need to educate ourself by getting better orientation cannot be over emphasize as far as holding on to steempower is concerned. Our future on steemit is the amount of STEEMPOWER will hold on to my friend.

Whales never engage with their audiences and they're earning massive amounts of SP through poor contents, running give aways/contest to buy your attention, fake delegation campaign, sucking your SP through post promoting up-voting bots , manipulating SBD price to make you believe SBD worth more than $1.

You are right on this my friend, that is why we have to educate ourself and the desire to read more and more everyday must be our watchword. What do you think about people using bot to keep themselves in the trending position and other delegate to whale? though I had people saying there is more gain delegating to whale. And some steemians who have steempower but not alway available, delegating to whale is not a bad idea right?

The point which you are trying to make is totally right and if you match it with the real world scenario we would come to know that it all about mindset. This is the mindset which all the millionaires and billionaires have and that is why they are diffrent from ordinary people.
On steemit even if you want to get success and be somewhere you will have to be different and do things which other are not doing or if I say most of the people are not doing. You will have to be 1% of the people and take steem serioulsy because in the long run steem is which will be used as the parent currency when we get the SMT's.

i think SP is long term and most profitable investment
sbd will most likely remain at $1 while as steem has alot of potential and even after SMT we might see huge growth in steem
so it is better to save your SP and keep making money over a long period of time
well nowadays people who have only 500SP are involved in vote selling etc.I think these bots,vote selling ,fake delegations are ruining the beauty of steemit.It would be alot better without these disgusting inovations

@nathanmars, Absolutely appreciate work you do it now for support minnows. I have 8 months experience about steem blockchain and I never know cryptocurrency before came here. Now I have some knowledge of crypto market via some whales assistance. I believe yet on steem tokens. But currently harder to earn SBD or steem via create contents and comments. Huge users came to platform. But We have some biggest offer. If we can get whales attention then have chance to earn some rewards. First time harder. But be patience you can go higher.

Don't sell your SP. SP will be worth 100 times more than SBD in 2-3 years.

Absolutely that's great advice and I totally agreed. Our SP will be more valuable after 2 or 3 years. Look at whales in this platform. They earning and earning steem power. If we can power up SP using steem or SBD it's be valuable decision.

I really agree with you on everything you mentioned here. Whales are definitely manipulating with SBD price. All I get as rewards I power up. Every SBD I earn I power up. I recently noticed many people are powering down aspecialy whales, also sooo many people are delegating to voting bots. For whatever reason they see it as easier way to earn rewards. This leads to shrinking curation rewards for real steemiens. This leads to less upvotes from real people since so many of them prefer to delegate. Voting bots are getting most of curation rewards and on top of it they get paid for their upvotes. I’m surprised how so many people are using them since they are not that profitable at all. I would even say in most cases people loose on their investments. If people really want to help this comunity, why don’t they delegate to real people instead of voting bots. I guess they don’t care much, they care for profits. Anyway, I don’t believe it will last for long this voting bots system. Something will eventually have to give up.

I would definitely invest in SP. Reason being that the more SP i have the more i can try to change what is currently going on in steemit. That is poor and low quality contents trending while real post is stuck with no upvote $0.00. I know this because have passed through the stage it was not easy i had to give up for sometimes. It was then i said to myself quiters don't win and winners don't quit. So i started the journey again until i met this great man who out of love and kindness delegated (600Sp) to me to use and curate contents while developing myself. I no 600sp create no effect on someone post but its better to see $0.90 on a post than $0.00 after 7days. So i try my best to vote and hope i could do more if i have more sp. So investing in SP is the best and i am so working towards it.

Hello @nathanmars well this is a really nice question.
If I were in steemit for a longer period of time I would no doubt invest in SP because that is the game.
I believe is the best crypto one can offer. You can buy some steem to Hodl and by powering up your account with that steem you can actually start earning SBD as well as you get some amount of steem too.
So in my view this is a cryptocurrency that multiplies, who would not Want that.
I see your contribution to this platform and I support it. I am a student so right now I don't have much to invest but some day I will invest in steem as this platform is giving a lot to people.

I am a minnow and i get little rewards on my content, I've been really confused on this steem power up because i feel that, i don't have enough amount that can make significant upvote. and been a Student, i need some cash that is why i sell my sbd instead of powering up. but now I'm convinced with your advice. Long term goals are way better than short term. now is a good time to accumulate SteemPower at SBD output in the future it will be very useful.

I have met some few funny people who were even trying to power down the delegated steem power given to them when they newly joined steemit.
Investment on Steem Power is a digital gold mine which SBD cannot guarantee. Just like the name implies Steem Backed Dollar(SBD) which means SBD is a subsidiary not the main currency.

One good things I love about Steem Power. It can bring SBD, steem and also more Steem Power when you curate posts.SBD cannot do that.

Whales organising contests and requesting voting the post as a cateria for one to be qualify in the contest is like bidding for upvote which he uses to build up his steem power.

Steem power is that online resources which can yield more value in few years.

Is not easy to change the mentality of people. Yesterday I called out some people about cashing out and not invest in SP on a discord server of spanish speakers and I was criticized and almost insulted by two ofended users that asked me if I'm a millonaire. Hahaha I'm just a dude facing the same economic crisis as they do. I'm sorry to hear about fake accounts of my fellow venezuelans but not all of us are the same, a visit to my wallet can prove that I have invest all my earnings in the platform. That is also true, before you venture into something you have to make research. When I first joined this community, all I had in mind was post and make money. Forget the post, it was money money money that was on my mind.

You are right SP is the real thing. According to me as I see this platform it was not only meant to earn but to invest and earn. Steemit has helped a lot of people who were poor and now they earn through this. I think one should invest in steem and hold and should also earn through that. A lot of ways to earn are there on steemit, but I say invest money and start is the best option. I wish good luck to all who did.
And @nathanmars you are doing a great job, you actually care about the platform and you are focused on your mission, I admire you my friend.

I sincerely believe that the SP is the future I have been on the platform for a few months I have noticed how it has progressed very quickly and as people bet on the future of the SP they say that the value will be very high I think it is the best way to invest in SP many here they already do it you have to create little by little those SP

I think I spend much more time here, I really like it a lot more than other social networks and it's where most of my time was spent in addition to my work. Here I show some of the best things to do and cook.

I have no idea how to upload a video by DLIVE or DTUBE I have it in mind but I have been very busy to investigate how to do it also recently I just had my own smart phone You can go to my blog and you'll see that I'm in a cooking contest called Steemit Sandwich Contest It's a sandwich contest and I've been competing for several weeks and I've won some awards as the first place

and I think that until now I have been in all the places to verify that the food is made by you they ask you to make a record with the name of the contest the week and the date you made the sandwich so far they go for the week 44th achievement get a place in week 43 I have validation cards in each of my sandwich maybe for now serve to verify that I am a person

@nathanmars yes it is true, because rising of SBD just gives lurement, not the value of a person on steemit and then one spends his/her sbd on posts to promote. But i think builiding SP will build the account overall will impact the share in the platform. High SP high value of account and high share in steem platform. In the end thing that's gonna benefit is steempower.

Definitely investing in SP.
Sbd is for the now SP and STEEM is undoubtedly the future.

I just made plans to help me better invest in Sp.
here is what I did, I placed my post earnings to auto 100% sp power up while my comment earnings to the default 50/50 sbd/sp stuff since It is more liquid and I solely really on the proceeds of steemit to take care of my immediate needs as a student.

Well you wouldnt blame minnows too much if i must say. People come i to steemit through different means. The amount of accounts we had between december and february skyrocked simply because the price of sbd was really high. I am sure they all came for the money. Many minnow are guilty of this and i am as well be ause i registered on December wgen a friend of mine won a contest that gave him 52sbd.

With a mindset like this, all the minnows think of is quick gratification which is the reason why they take it all. But having stayed long enough in the systen, i have come to have faith in steem and believe that it would bw far more valuable in the furure and i have decided never to power down. It takes a wise person to think this way and of course you know, not everyone is wise enough #smiles

Actually, until now I haven't invested anything in my account, except the time to make my posts. If I were to invest in something it would definitely be SP. I see Steemit also from the long runperspective although I think SBD will keep up with STEEM to some extent regarding the price, but having SBD pricier than STEEM as it was for a couple of times before... no way.

SMT’s on STEEM is similar to ICO’s on Ethereum. With every SMT realise the demand for SP will increase. As you can see how much SP Dlive and Dtube has already.

Also,
SMT’s on STEEM is similar to AIRDROPS on EOS

So more SP you’ve the more SMT you’ll receive.

All institutional investors will buy SP to promote thier business and products. Like buying advertisements.

I totally agree and I know that on many occasions not knowing is what plunges us into anything that comes up, as my abject would say ignorance and lack of knowledge are not good companions, so he has guided me and of course I I like to learn a lot more about the Dlive theme because they have a lot of good content but few receive the importance they deserve, and it is unfair but that is what really happens.

Many want to grow but they do not know how, and the ones that are really expected are the ones that are little known because to be honest many of the beneficiaries are usually friends of friends and so on, the content is really worthwhile.

In my point of view, investment in Sp is the better option to making the more powerful account, as you do that I rely appreciated. And yesh first we should educate yourself before doing anything.

I am currently collecting SBD and will I power up to SP, for the strength of my Steemit account. with having my SP can help newbies with original and nice content. so they grow fast. they are very happy when the value of the post is 0.10, if 2-3 years Steem price 100 fold, of course my love value increases.

When l start steemit my first thing how to help oncoming steemians that time l power up may steem but l didn't meet the expectation ,l have alot of sbd that time which l what change to steem to power up but unfortunately they change my password and take way all my 20sbd way, and that time l borrow some steem to power up which l will return . have return it and stop up down. You only got yourself to blame minnows. Educate yourself about investment. Don't sell your SP. SP will be worth 100 times more than SBD in 2-3 years.

Going by your question, I would prefer to invest in sp because sp is the real power.

More sbd is not tantamount to more power, but more power would definitely bring in more money.

It's a pity I don't have more money to invest right now. But I will keep investing my skill and time in writing quality posts and comments.

Powering down is not even on my mind, I'm sure if I'm following this part with this my commitment,in the next 1 or 2 years, my level would have changed for better.

On dlive and dtube.

Just finished learning how to go about it from a friend, I will post my first video very soon.

@nathanmars, you are right most of us i mean the newbies did not know the difference between sbd and steem and most dont know what to invest in..
steemit is beyond what some people take it for, some are here to make quick money that will not last long while some are here to invest for the future, so i cant blame some of the minnows that sell there sp to make a living but i can tell them that they should think of what the people buying it from them will need it for, so they should sit-down and think, so that they will not regret there action when SP will be worth 100 times more than SBD in 2-3 years. Hello friend @ nathanmars.

where would you invest my money, SBD or SP, if you stayed with STEEM for a few more years? I have many plans in mind in the long term, but my first investment will be to build the kitchen of my house buy a camera and material for the making of my recipe videos. I am a fish of only a few months and my rewards are small, but I am sure I will get it.
I would not like to sell, my sp because I have invested my time to get them and I will enjoy them and help the people. My SBD are the ones that will help me achieve my goals .

Definitely investing in SP. Why will someone invest on sbd rather than sp?
I think majority of minnows still needs education about sbd, sp and steem
Sbd is for the now SP and STEEM is undoubtedly the future.
