People who have iOS devices and use the Brave Browser will now be able to earn 70% of the revenue for the advertisements they've watched. Brave has finally implemented its Ad Rewards program on iOS, months after the feature was introduced on desktop and Android. The company implemented the update on Tuesday.
Ad Rewards are not available everywhere. Even though Brave has launched the update worldwide, the advertisements are currently mainly aimed at the European and US markets. Consumers in other areas are out of luck and need to remain patient.
Brave Browser is a browser meant to introduce privacy to all its users. Cookies and trackers can be blocked, and personal data is only stored on your own computer or device. The advertisements shown to Brave users on iOS and Android are based on a user profile generated based on their browsing behavior. However, data is never shared with another party besides the user's own device.
Even though ads aren't shown to everybody, users can still earn BAT for using the browser. In turn they can tip content creators a bit of BAT each month. The idea is that tipping is favorable over being spammed with advertisements on websites and before videos.
Brave growing exponentially
Last month it became clear that iOS would be receiving the Ad Rewards update soon. At the same time Brave announced it had 8 million monthly active users. This week the company updated that number to 9 million users across all platforms.
Even though this growth is remarkable, it doesn't make Brave a big fish yet. Every month 4.5 billion people go on the internet. Most of the web traffic goes through Google Chrome. Google’s browser dominates the market with a market share of 63 percent. Chrome is followed by Safari with 16 percent.
Brave browser verified content creators
Content creators can only earn BAT when they are verified publishers. Currently there are more then 290 thousand content creators. Most of them are on social platforms like Youtube (200 thousand), Twitch (15 thousand) and Twitter (28 thousand). There are 33 thousand websites that are confirmed content creators in the Brave ecosystem, which includes this one.
Download Brave here, and support (this) content creator(s) without being annoyed by ads.
