Blockchain utility growing in cities worldwide
All around the world cities are slowly embracing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. For example in Japan and Brazil cities are or will be using cryptocurrencies to pay for public transit. At the same time the European Commission has invested millions of euros in the creation of self-sustainable cities that build their services on blockchain technology.
The rise of 5G wireless internet could help blockchain technology to reach mainstream usage. A blockchain powered by 5G has five application scenarios according to China Telecom. The telecom company mentioned for example identity verification, financial services, supply chain tracing services, judicial application and the express delivery industry.
