Blockchain games publisher Animoca Brands is holding an auction to sell Formula 1-branded non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for its upcoming racing game F1 Delta Time. Gamers and crypto investors can buy Formula 1 in-game assets starting from Thursday, November 28th. The company announced these plans in a press release over the weekend.

These non-fungible tokens are basically digital collectibles. These digital in-game assets are tied to a personal wallet, giving gamers actual ownership over the items. These items contain unique information and vary in their level of rarity. As a result they have a certain market value. Players are free to trade their in-game items.

F1 Delta Time has items with five levels of rarity. Each item is part of a racing car set, of which there are ten different ones available. The game has ten different cars from the Formula 1 included: Mercedes AMG W10, Ferrari SF90, Red Bull Racing RB15, McLaren MCL34, Renault R.S. 19, Racing Point RP19, Toro Rosso STR14, Alfa Romeo Racing C38, Haas VF-19, and Williams FW42.

Win in-game assets F1 Delta Time

Before the Formula 1 auction starts on November 28th, the team behind the game has organized a giveaway. Formula 1 fans need to predict the order of sale for the F1 team cars. They have a chance to win a share of 30 ETH and various F1 Delta Time car gear in-game assets.

Those who want to join the giveaway, need to sign-up for an account on F1DeltaTime.com, and connect their crypto wallet, for example Metamask.

Animoca Brands big on blockchain games

Game developers who embrace blockchain technology are likely to use these type of auction to generate a budget for the development of their game. This was done for Crypto Space Commander, which sold 135 thousand dollars worth of Star Trek themed space ships. This game is already playable and can be found on Steam as well.

In addition Animoca Brands has been selling in-game assets for upcoming games. Last month they sold an in-game car for F1 Delta Time for $16.500. While they sold their first in-game asset for the racing game for $110.000 back in May. The upcoming auction adds another bulk of cash to their development budget, while F1 Delta Time should release next year.

Animoca Brands is one of the biggest names in the world of blockchain games. They are combining player ownership, digital assets, with major mainstream brands. The company has licenses for a variety of sports competitions, including Formula 1 and the recently announced MotoGP. On top of that they own German game studio Stryking, which just struck a deal with German Rekordmeiser and football powerhouse Bayern Munchen.

Last year Animoca Brands got involved with Atari, and is now working on rebuilding Rollercoaster Tycoon Touch and Goon Squad, two existing mobile games, for use on the blockchain. This means gamers will be able to own virtual themepark rides and squad members, for example.
