Animoca Brands announced the development of a MotoGP blockchain game this Thursday. The company secured a three-year global licensing deal. Alongside a MotoGP management game Animoca Brands will launch digital collectibles. The management game needs to be available when the MotoGP 2020 season starts in March next year.
In order to fund its business, Animoca Brands has raised 700 thousand dollars. They will use the money to finalize the management game and implement the digital collectibles into the core gameplay.
According to the official press release, MotoGP attracts 400 million fans worldwide. Fans will be able to buy digital collectibles and use them in the game. When Animoca Brands will start selling the digital collectibles for the MotoGP blockchain game is not yet known. Generally the gaming company does this a few months prior to the launch of a game.
Animoca Brands keeps licensing
The Hong Kong-based gaming company has licenses to a variety of mainstream sports brands. In May this year the company announced a partnership with Formula 1. As a result they have launched collectibles already, while the F1 Delta Time game comes early next year. On top of that they are working on games based on the Major League Baseball and the German football league.
