Sirin Labs will integrate the popular cryptocurrency interface MyEtherWallet into its Finney blockchain smartphone. Cryptocurrency investors who use MyEtherWallet are now able to buy the phone through the interface, while MyEtherWallet will be the go-to wallet interface for people who own a Finney.
MyEtherWallet offers multiple ways to access an Ethereum-based wallet. People can login by providing their private key or using a hardware wallet for example. In the case of the Finney phone, the smartphone itself will function as the hardware wallet.
Sirin Labs' phone is running on an adapted version of Android. Which means it can run both decentralized apps (dApps) and apps from the Google Play store. To buy apps, people can use Sirin Labs own coin (SRN). The company is also selling its operating system to third parties, even though there haven't been any announcements in regards to buyers yet.
The Finney phone has an unique safety measure. It comes with a second screen, called the ‘safe screen’. It’s only 2 inches in size and is meant to be used for secure access to the built-in cold storage wallet.
The Finney phone costs 999 dollar and can be ordered from the Sirin Labs website. The company is also working to make the phone available in multiple stores worldwide.
The Finney blockchain phone was released late last year. Even though the idea of a blockchain-powered phone was new around that time, the market is quickly catching up. HTC has the Exodus 1, and the company partnered with Opera to provide users with built-in crypto wallets. Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy S10, which has its own crypto wallet as well.
