Technology has come a long way since the lightbulb and the assembly line
The new era of technology ranges from Artificial Intelligence to Smart Cities to 3D Printing. What is ushering in this new technology is the hope for automation of life as well as making life easier. The things we take for granted are the things that are ever evolving in today's society. The technology released in the past few years is an exponential curve of ideas compared to that of anything prior to the year 2000.
Autonomous vehicle's are still a new vibrant technology today that is currently lead by companies such as Tesla for the automobile consumer, Google for their mapping technology and to Uber for self-driving cabs. The technology is still relatively new and the question is, will we adopt self driving vehicles anytime soon?
The answer is hard to answer, as its a very scary concept, to accept the fate of our lives are in the handles of some AI driven computer that is understanding lane departure, merging and maintaining self distances between other vehicles. Even self assisted parking hasn't caught onto mainstream, with only a handful of manufacturers offering the technology and usually in the higher class range of their vehicles. The fact is simple, we don't like giving up control, its hard to grasp letting others drive you, let alone a machine.
The first step into Autonomous vehicles is via alternative vehicles such as Drones and possible other mechanical devices such as boats, where there is a lesser chance for failure and more time to work out any kinks.
Luckily DAV is working first with the drone aspect of the Autonomous driven functionality for the blockchain, before it goes into Cars and other vehicles. The first step to autonomy is through analysis and well documented use cases.
First
The way for DAV to penetrate their autonomous technology is to prove that a drone can deliver a package remotely and by it self through a smart contract built on the DAV network.
Second
Utilize the existing working tech from drones on a larger scale, such as boats or other robotic technology such as searching robots. The boat and robots are part of the 2nd step in DAV's autonomous platform
Third
Jump right in and utilize the tech for autonomous taxis and other self driven vehicles to work in collaboration with each other.
Competition
Blockchain : Currently no related competition
Non-Blockchain: Google, Uber, Tesla, Ford, Volvo, Cadillac, Waymo, Toyota and almost all major car manufacturers are looking at self automation by 2020.
Market Penetration
Good!
As long as DAV works on delivering what they promised, they can beat out alot of major manufactureros or wind up working directly with them through the utilization of SDKs and out of the box software that can be used. I am confident that DAV has what it takes to make a name for itself in the Autonomous Driving field.
