Ever since bitcoin hit $1,000, they've said it was in a bubble and would soon burst. However, it has gotten to $9,000 and strongly eyeing $10,000 now. Most of this surge has been due to the several Bitcoin forks this year. I'd advise bitcoin owners to hold on to their bitcoins, but for those who don't own any cryptocurrencies and looking for where to invest, better to look at Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple.
Bitcoin would definitely hit $10,000 this year, but I can't be quite certain it would get to $12,000.
However, looking at the way things are going for bitcoin right now, you never know, it just might.

This is MUCH MORE than simply the value of these cryptocurrencies. Sure, it's outrageous how fast these currencies are appreciating in value. However, there's something that's happening along with this that is much bigger than that.
The architects of this movements are slowly but surely taking the control away from the most powerful banks, the Fed Reserve, central banks of other countries, and traditional financial institutions. What is more powerful than money and the entities that control it? Nothing. The architects of the Crypto-Sphere are going to snatch the power away from the banks and governments or at least share this power.

That's one possibility. However, some countries have put a ban on cryptocurrencies, and if this trend continues "the architects of the Crypto-Sphere" would be having a rough day. Don't under estimate the power of the Government.
