The developer owns very popular franchises such as Assassins Creed, Prince of Persia and Far Cry.
It came to light that Ubisoft is exploring possible use cases for the block chain, through its laboratory specialized in emerging technologies: Strategic Innovation Lab.
Lidwine Sauer, director of the laboratory, told the IGN portal that at Ubisoft they are very interested in Blockchain's ability to offer exclusive ownership over digital content. According to Sauer, the block chain offers the opportunity to "have real digital products, which can not be replicated by anyone".
In fact, the company is particularly interested in taking advantage of Blockchain in the field of downloadable content (DLC) of video games, which include aspects such as aesthetic changes and small missions. However, according to Sauer's statement, the ambitions of the company go further.
We want to go further. We believe that there is still something more interesting to find and we are in the search ".
It should be noted that Ubisoft is not the first video game developer to explore the uses of Blockchain technology. CryptoKitties, a platform on which users can buy, breed and sell digital cats, is also supported by the block chain.
