The team behind Bitcoinplay.net has made an outstanding infographic that illustrates 62 interesting facts about Bitcoin covering 9 years of history. It all started after Satoshi Nakamoto published the Bitcoin whitepaper on October 31, 2008, called: “Bitcoin: a peer-to-peer electronic cash system“. Much has happened since then.

Did you know for example...

  • Did you know two pizzas were sold for 10,000 bitcoins in 2010?
  • Did you know $100 dollar invested in July 2010 is now worth over 6 million US dollar?
  • Did you know the FBI owns 1.5% of the world's bitcoins?
  • Did you know the top 1000 bitcoin addresses control 34% of total BTC in circulation?
  • Did you know the cold wallet of Bitcoin exchange Bitfinex contains 143,234 BTC (over 1 billion USD)
  • Did you know in the USA only 802 citizens have filed taxes on Bitcoin income in 2015?
  • Did you know Chinese mining pool Antpool mined around 20% of all blocks between 2016-2017?
  • Did you know the number of Bitcoins rewarded for mining halves every 4 years?
  • Did you know the 21 million Bitcoin limit is expected to be reached in the year 2140?
  • Did you know there are 1,402 Bitcoin ATM's worldwide in 55 countries?

Probably acquired them after the Silk Road platform was taken down. Here's an interesting TED talk by the federal prosecutor, Kathryn Huan, on their story

Thank you for your suggestion.
I have it on my list of ideas :)

i hope i will see this feature soon 😍😍 love you and your site 😍

Just as a humble advice sir, you could put Did you know on the top of the questions list, to avoid repeating the question on each line :)

The bitfinex and antminer pool peaked my interest. There must be also large holdings from other exchanges and pools such at poloniex, coinbase, and ViaBTC mining. Sad irony is the design of bitcoin was to decentralize currency but is failing to do so as many of these established entities are hodling a ton of bitcoin and only getting more as more people get into crypto.

Thanks for the information.

thankx for sharing all the information.

2140 we are all gone by then.. I wonder how much is bitcoin on that year haha..

It is a calculated estimate. I wonder if it is based on Moore's Law as technology advances it may likely be soon to reach 21 million in my opinion. Imagine if bitcoin is at 1 million a coin would it not then entice a lot more miners to hack away at bitcoin?

i think if they can't hack bitcoin because of its increasing security- time machine will be invented lol.. they will go back in the year 2010 when the price was still low.

Very interesting information. Not too sure why the FBI owns 1.5% of all Bitcoin! Hmmmm

Very interesting facts about bitcoins :) thanks for the sharing!

Cool infographic, thanks for sharing!
