Bitcoin faucets - are they worth the time?

Before i start rambling about the various upsides and downsides of bitcoin faucets, let's assume we all have basic knowledge of "bitcoin" and the various terms that comes with it. Now, let's move on.

So, here we are again, got trapped in the vast lowland of "free money, little work" offers on the internet, and inarguably bitcoin faucets are just some of them.

The concept is simple: you build a website, have some bitcoins ready to distribute, attract people to come and give them very small amounts of bitcoins, while gaining back revenue from placing ads right on your website. As a member of the page, we get paid little amounts of bitcoins over time for nothing, which sounds really attractive at first. But believe me; no one is giving a total stranger - yes, you - free money for nothing. Of course it is still free, but the amount is so small and the fact that our time could be spent doing better things makes this a not-so-efficient way to make money. I'll prove this through a comparison of the best faucets (according to many users)

1.Free bitco.in

Revisit time (the minimum time you have to wait to claim again after you've just claimed): 1 hour
Payout: from 30 satoshi (0.00000030 BTC) to 0.03 BTC, depends on the number you've rolled

Pros: has a betting system that can make some extra satoshi if done correctly, has a lottery system which is pretty nice, generous referral system

Cons: the chance of getting any amount larger than the minimum amount in the free roll is really small, the betting system can make noobies lose everything (especially the auto bet), lottery chance is really small, must buy/own a considerable amount of tickets to actually have a chance to win something

=> This is the best one yet, but it should be treated correctly to make any profit. The betting system must be used since it would take 1000 days to get to 0.003 BTC (about 19$ at the time of this writing) given that you can roll 10 times a day, everyday ithout betting. So, if you think you can take the risk, register here: https://freebitco.in/. Or, you can wait forever and still haven't win anything from the lottery with your few tickets. Congrats; getting 1$ here with no referrals is as hard as 50 push-ups.

2.Btcclicks.com

Revisit time: none; it depends on how often you click ads
Payout: 7 satoshis for the highest paying ad at a time

Pros: it's different than most others, has a 90/180/360-day "double earning" membership which sounds attractive in the long run, has a referral renting feature

Cons: it's a nearly total waste of time. Unless you develop a bot that helps you surf every ads everyday and not get caught, it's going to take about 1000 days to get to 0.01 BTC, given that you log in once and surf all the ads there everyday (i don't know if the ad changes within a day, in which case you'll have some couple more satoshis, but still not considerable), and the referral renting price is high, and there's not usually many referrals to hire

=> Get some referrals, click your a__ of, get enough for a membership, purchase membership, click your a__ off again, and you should get your results. But given the work and time required,i say it's nearly a waste of time. But if you're so inclined, have a special strategy, or just wanna experience yourself, then you're welcome: https://btcclicks.com/

3.Moon bit.co.in

maxresdefault (1).jpg

Revisit time: minimum 5 mins; waiting more gives a higher amount satoshi but claiming more regularly is more beneficial
Payout: from 2 satoshi to about 1296 satoshi

Pros: a pretty much standard way to claim bitcoins, with various bonuses

Cons: payout varies greatly from 2 satoshi/claim/5mins to 30 satoshi/claim/5mins; also a coinpot account is required

=> This is very unstable, the payout rates can be really low. Would do pretty great if you have many referrals; or else this is just another time-waster. But well, if you want to try it out yourself, feel free: http://moonbit.co.in/

Through the above comparison, it seems that faucets are not a really great way to make money, since they payout is very low for almost all the faucets available. And also, any other faucets you've tried is a worse or similar version of the ones listed above. Of course; there's better ways to earn yourself some cryptomoney, which i'll cover in my next post.

If you have any question, disagree with my opinions, ohave any strategy or better faucets you would like to suggest, feel free to leave a comment, i'll reply to all of them :)

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

This message was created by a bot. It is part of the ongoing fight against spam and phishing attacks on steemit. If you did not use short links in your post and feel you have received this message in error you can contact @fubar-bdhr on discord or @fubar.bdhr on steemit chat to report the issue.

Oops, sorry for the inconvenience. I edited the links back to original links, thanks for reminding :P
