I meant, why is the logarithmic different?

Sort Order:  

Yeah it is about the measurement of the variation/increase quantified by the unit base of your measument (e.g. base 10) so each unit increase is a powered by x10 increment. Please note that human hearing volumes is measured by a logarithmic scale rather than a linear scale (decibels)

So when u have a volatile / noisy aspect you can extract the main component increase by scaling logarithmically and have a more smooth aspect
